Agnes Dunphy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 22, 2018.
It is with great sadness that we the family of Agnes Catherine Dunphy, aged 89, announce her passing on April 18, 2018 at Highland Manor in Neil's Harbour.
Agnes was born April 27, 1928 in Ingonish. She was the daughter of the late Michael T. Barron and Bridget (Hanrahan) Barron. In 1949 she married our dad, Sylvester Dunphy. They were happily married for 62 years and together they raised five children.
She is survived by her daughter Valerie (Ian) Inglis, Ontario; Cathy (Mark) VanHeddegem, Alberta; Mary (Ricky) Fraser, Dingwall; and two sons Greg (Joanne) British Columbia; Mike (Dianne) Ingonish. Agnes is also survived by 13 grandchildren (her pride and joy) Candace, Jamie, Malcolm, Michael, Stephen, Angela, Sara, Hailey, Stephanie, Jonathan, Clayton, Jillian and Hannah, 4 great grandchildren Landon, Liam, Henry and Charlie as well as extended family, Elaine, Diane Darlene and Percy. Mom was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph (Dode) Barron and James (Dini) Barron and sisters Marge Saunders, Marie Barron and Evangeline Barron.
Mom devoted her life caring for her family. She had an immense faith in God and St. Theresa, praying daily. She had a love of taking family photos and captured much joy, especially with the grandchildren. She loved gardening and enjoyed her flowers, especially her roses. Family gatherings, bingo and a good game of cards were her favourites. She is once again with dad, the love of her life.
We would like to express much appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Highland Manor, the Doctors and staff of Buchanan Memorial Hospital and the home support workers for all of the wonderful care and attention that they gave to our mother. Also we would like to say thank you to each and everyone for their love and support over the years in helping us to keep mom at home. Donations in Agnes' memory may be made to Highland Manor or Buchanan Memorial Hospital. There will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.fillmoreandwhitman.com
