Aisling Carroll

Born February 26, 1994 in Washington, D.C., Aisling Carroll lived her life creating. She was a gifted musician, playing a wide variety of instruments (guitar, banjo, harmonica, tin whistle, keyboard) and composing many works, including two albums: Vision Fair & Radiance Rare and In a Mountain Down Below. She supported social justice protests by performing as a one-person band and loved to write, draw and paint. She self-published a book, A Story of the Sea, and won the 2012 U.S. Congressional Art Competition 8th District for her photograph, Lady of Rain. She received a BFA in Film from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2016 and graduated in 2012 from Yorktown High School, where she was Class President junior and senior year.

She fell in love with the medium of radio and created and hosted The Search for Sasquatch WEMF and Folk & Folk WERA. She joined Sirius XM as Associate Producer for The Morning Show with Ron Ross and was known to listeners as Shaggy. She also wrote for Train Tracks with Pat Monahan. In August '22, she left for Ireland with a fresh set of dreams and began her studies at Trinity College Dublin for a Master's degree in Music and Media Technology. It was clear she made the right choice and found a very welcoming place for creative expression.

Aisling was a great friend to many. Always looking to entertain and make people laugh, her keen wit and humor were a refreshing and joyous experience. She was a kind and sensitive soul who was full of empathy and love for others. She leaves behind so many who will hold their love for this unique and special person dear to their hearts. Deeply missed by parents Daniel Carroll and Michele Ginnerty, sister Julia M. Carroll, grandparents Alice P. Carroll and Robert J. Ginnerty, aunts, uncles and twenty-two cousins. Preceded in death by Paul J. Carroll and Mary Ann Ginnerty. An annual scholarship in Aisling's memory has been established at Trinity College.
