I am just learning of AJ's passing. He was my boss at Tenneco. I remember him as very kind and smart. Always smiling. My prayers are with Joan and her family.

Such a beautiful celebration of life service which we viewed online. We have wonderful memories of AJ and our mission trips together and Faith Formation classes together at MDPC. We were enriched by his faith and friendship. We wrap in our love and prayers. Celeste and Rob Habiger.

I first met AJ in 1977. We both worked at Tenneco. I had just joined Tenneco in New Jersey in strategic planning for its chemical company. AJ was from Tenneco Inc in Houston and responsible for planning its chemical and related companies. My first big assignment was to tour operations together with AJ and become familiar with everything. Little did I know that was to be the start of everything.
AJ recruited me to transfer to Houston and we never looked back.
AJ had a profound influence on the direction and tenor of my career and life. He was a great mentor and guide. He will be missed by many. Our deepest condolences to Joan and his children - you were the light of his life.

A. J, you will be missed. I met Mr. A.J at the mentor program at Spring woods Middle school. And from the first moment we had a bond that created a friendship. He has been a friend that I cant compare. He was always there when I needed him, he always listened to me and always gave me the best of advise that has brought me to be the man that I am today. I hope that when its my time, that I would be at least 1 % of the man he was. You will be missed friend, and my deepest condolenses to his wife Joan and family. God give you strenght in this time of your life.

My condolences to the Phipps family and especially, to Joan. I knew AJ as a colleague at Bonner & Moore, as a Partner at Crosby, Phipps & Ross, and as a friend for many years, and it was my privilege to know him in those roles.
In work situations AJ worked hard and got things accomplished. If you had a disagreement, it was relatively easy to find a compromise and work thing out. As a friend, because AJ was smart, thoughtful and had a wide range of interests, asking for his counsel was often very helpful.
He was generous in giving of himself to his family, his community and the world.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Phipps family. I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Phipps once in our Quality Improvement Office at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where his son Ron is my boss. From that brief encounter, it was clear to me that he was a truly remarkable person-someone who raised an exceptionally intelligent and compassionate son.

His deep love for his children and grandchildren shone through in the many adventures they shared together, including memorable trips like their journey to the Galápagos Islands. His legacy of love, curiosity, and family will continue to live on through those cherished memories.

Very saddened to hear about the loss of my longtime friend and classmate. I believe he is now in a better place and free from pain.
