In memory of
Pat Beckett
May 24, 2008
Dear Grace,
Raymond Allum called yesterday and let me know that Al had passed. I am sorry that I did not know earlier and could have attended the funeral. The two of you are a wonderful witness of God's love and his strength in the midst of trials. Bill and I will continue to keep you in our prayers during this difficult time of loss and mourning.
With love and prayers,
Pat and Bill Beckett

Dear Aunt Grace,
The Word of God says in 1 Corinthians 15:51-58 (KJV)
"...So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?...But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
Therefore, our beloved Aunt Grace, be stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, and know (as Uncle Al knew) that our labour is not in vain in the Lord. ---Love always, Neal, Carlene, Kayla & Jordan Parnther

"Gracie", I praise God for the testimony of Al's life and what it meant to me personally. Remember, "God is able to take the sting out of the memory and still leave the sweet taste of victory in tact. No longer will you be handicapped or hindered by what you've been through; instead you will be enriched by it!"
Be assured of our continued prayers, presence and love.

Grace, Andrew, Christine and the rest of the Family, Accept my depeest sympathy on the loss of your husband, father, uncle and friend to many. I can never forget the days Al was Director of the Choir at Bethel Baptist Church. His deep Bass Voice, the many country trips we have taken all over the island singing to the Glory of God but most of all the many questions I would ask him about my Christian Faith.
Be assured of my continued prayers as you mourn your loss and may God continue to give you strength and comfort you. Blesssings.

I met Al first through TSS and shortly afterward discovered that Grace worked at my office. They both have "sweet expressions" and are a lovely couple. I know he will be greatly missed by all, and "I know that it's the presence of the Lord."

My condolences to Al's family and friends. I first met Al when I was invited to be a founding board member of the Tallahassee Scientific Society through a mutual friend. Al touched many people in Tallahassee through his active role in starting TSS, its liason with Leon County science teachers, and his involvement in local science fairs. Although his dream of using TSS as a platform to start a science center was not realized, that dream did become real (the Brogan Museum) through the efforts of people he helped bring together. Al made Tallahassee a better place to live, in many different ways, for people from all walks of life. He will be missed.

Dear Grace and Family,
We will miss Al greatly, his smile and beautiful voice. 2 Cor 5:8 says "We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord." We know that Al is now resting in the arms of our Lord and Saviour. We will continue to lift you and family up in prayer. When things have settled, we will pay you a visit.
Our deepest sympathy and love.

Dearest Aunt Grace, Christine, Andrew, and Family,
I am so sorry I am unable to be with you at this time. I am praying for the family and hoping that God's loving, kind arms will embrace and comfort us all during this time of loss. Uncle Al was so kind and loving and I am personally comforted by the thought of him smiling and extending his arms around all of us in comfort. He would not want us to be sad, but to be rejoiceful in remembering his life here on earth and the life that he moves onto.
I love you all and will be thinking of you and praying for all of us as we cope with our loss.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of grief. Al was a council member for the Florida Academy of Sciences, and that is where I was privileged to work with him. He was one of my favorite people on the council. He was quiet but could be counted on for the perfect words of wisdom where needed. I will miss his kind demeanor and quiet ways.

Dear Grace and family,
Please accept our deepest sympathy and prayers for you and your dear family. Our heart aches for you. May the Lord’s comfort, love and peace quiet you; may His strength carry you so that only His footprints are seen in the sand. The Bible says we grieve but not as those without hope - For we are persuaded that HE IS ABLE to keep that which we have committed unto Him against that day. One of my greatest joys when by God’s mercy and grace I enter heaven will be to hear Al’s wonderful voice again. Every time Al sang a solo in church, you felt you were standing on holy ground; you felt the very presence of God in the place. His voice brought a holy hush over the congregation. Truly the heavenly chorus has been enriched as have our lives by this dear man of God and your beloved husband. Please know we love you and will be praying for you, Bruce and Kathy Ferris
