I am sorry to hear of your loss, I worked with Alan (Budgie) when I was on afternoon shift underground between 1975 and when he left for Australia in 1982, I went on his leaving at Blighty's Farnworth? He always had his finger on the pulse of what was happening, and was a composed methodical worker, well respected by all at Parsonage. My lasting memory of him is his flask of coffee, his tin of snuff and his big cheeky smile.

Mr Alan Burgess.
You gave me a chance many, many years ago. You took a gamble on a young bloke and gave him a run. You actively monitored my career, both whilst under your banner and after. You will always be the man I remember as being able to remember everything. I was an unskilled labourer. You knew the names of my wife and kids. 15 years on, we met briefly once more. You still knew the names of my wife and kids, you knew what I had been up to without batting an eyelid.
Thank you Alan. I have always aspired to be as casually personable and professional as yourself. You are a measure of men.
My absolute condolances to your family, and all that were fortunate to meet you.

Uncle Alan, I didn't get to say goodbye and attend your funeral but you were the greatest Uncle anyone could ask for. You always put other people first before yourself and sat by my bedside while i haven't been well. RIP Uncle Alan

My dearest Dad, you left us so suddenly, it shocked us to the core Dad.
I promise you Dad I will stand up now as you asked me to do and look after my Mum, Kellie and your daughter in law Mirella.
You guided me through life to become the man I am today and for that alone I am truly humbled.
Love you mate and I know you love us xxx

BURGESS (Alan):
It is with heavy hearts that we farewell our dear friend and work colleague Alan Burgess - ‘Burgo'.
Alan, you meant so much to so many people that you leave a void in our hearts.
There is so many things we will miss about you - your colourful anecdotes, your infectious laugh, your straight up approach, the loyal candidates you brought to our organisation, your passion for cricket, your beloved ‘Cats' and the many tales about your mate ‘George'.
We will continue to brew a coffee for you and have a ‘coldie' in the fridge for the end of the day.
Close to our hearts you will always stay, a heart of gold, these memories we will hold.
The world has lost a true and unique gentleman. We all miss you Alan.
To Lynda, Christian, Kellie and family, please accept our most heartfelt condolences for your loss. Our thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.
With sincere sympathy - DT Workforce and DowningTeal Management and Staff.
