There are fewer and fewer voices of reason, compassion, clarity, intelligence, and strength in any age, let alone this one. I still miss his clarity and so admired his purposeful life.

As I was looking through my over crowded book shelves I came upon a little paperback called People Touch. It was so wonderful and expressed my feelings exactly.
I had never heard of the author before and wanted to tell him how he had touched me with his words. I was saddened to know he had died. I can only say that I wish I would have had the chance to tell him what this little gem of a book meant to me.

As I looked through my over crowded book shelves I came upon the little paper back book People Touch. I was so wonderful and as I read it I found it to express my feelings so perfectly. I wanted to thank the author for such a gem and was saddened to know he had died.
If someone who he was close to should read this please know how he touched my heart.

Although Alan and I never met, we communicated for years by email as he was a regular and prolific contributor to WEBCommentary. His keen wit, quick mind, and desire to see "right" done, will be sorely missed by everyone whose life he touched.

Attracted to Alan's ideological bent and outstanding literary skills, I passed on my attendant views and he responded accordingly. The fact that his writing was based on a rational view of the subject matter and supported by historical fact made him a rarity in this time of spin and distortion of the truth by many columnists.
He had advised of his need to miss a period of writing his articles so I did not really notice the lack of his usual regular emails containing them until recently. I was shocked to hear of his passing at the early age of 77 considering I am nearing 90. I will miss him along with Milton Friedman, with whom I had a period of correspondence. I place Alan on that same pedestal of character, competence and talent.

I have been checking in with Mr. Caruba's column for a couple years now. His voice was always clear, unambiguous, fact-filled, and compassionate, a treat to read and follow. He, a little older than I, was like a literate, family friend, one who was a joy to know, to hear and read, and always coupled with that sense of wonder that one could be so fortunate to have his voice of reason so close by. To those of you who called him friend, brother, uncle, and caring colleague, I send heartfelt prayers to you in his wonderful memory. He is missed ever so much by those who heard his voice sound and clear.

Alan Caruba was contributor to DrRichSwier.com. Alan was an exceptional investigative citizen journalist, prolific writer and good friend.
We referred to Alan as "The Master". He taught us so much.
George Orwell wrote, "In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act." Orwell was thinking about men like Alan. Alan was a truth teller.
Alan will be missed by the Editorial Staff, his readers and family.

Alan will be sorely missed as a man of keen observation and facile communications. A good man who brought wit and wisdom to an increasingly disordered world. Rest in Peace Alan.

My condolences to the family and friends of Alan Caruba. The news came as a shock to me, as I assumed that Alan had left this latest bout behind him. As I look back over the last eight years, I first encountered Alan on radio talk shows, and on his on line blog, especially Canada Free Press. In particular. Alan's clarity and fearlessness on such topics as the man-made global warming hypothesis stimulated my thinking. Early on, I emailed Alan with questions. To my surprise, he promptly responded then, and always, until the very end. Very few other public/semi-public figures have, in my experience, impressed me as being personable. Before writing this, I did a review of Alan's career achievements. I hope all others here will do that also. It is an inspiring exercise. I also hope all other here will occasionally post some of Alan's best on their social sites. Alan's fearlessness and clarity enriched our world. We should not forget him.

Alan, after knowing you since I was a year old and having been your neighbor forty-two years, I am just so shocked that you are no longer with us. You were a permanent fixture of Maplewood and South Orange for so long, the towns will not be the same without you. Hope you are holding a fine cigar in one hand and a snifter of Champagne cognac in the other so we may talk again. Sincere condolences to your family.
