Alan Clark, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 23, 2022.
Alan Olsen Clark, Jr. passed away from our life on December 15, 2022. Alan was born on July 2, 1971 in Gulfport, Mississippi where he developed his love for the water in the Mississippi Sound and back bays throughout the Gulf Coast. Growing up, Alan was an avid sportsman and amazingly adept in any athletic endeavor in which he participated. As a teen, he was the winner of the first junior club champion at the Broadwater Beach Golf Course and second in the State of Mississippi in high school doubles tennis. His firm handshake would humble any man.

Alan was a Partner with Phelps Commercial Realty where he worked with his close friend, John Phelps, for the last twelve years developing countless friendships and business relationships. After graduating from the University of Mississippi in 1993, Alan moved to Houston, Texas and began a career in finance with Salomon Smith Barney and Merrill Lynch.

Everyone who met Alan was uplifted by a person who asked questions and listened, a person who knew your story and was happy to hear it again. Alan's smile was never wider than when he was holding he and Allison's children in his arms. He delighted in all aspects of his children's lives including school functions, dance recitals, soccer games and, especially, Wednesday family chapel. While Alan was very much a "girl dad," he was overjoyed about the future with his new son playing with trucks, fishing and golf.

Alan is predeceased by his father, Alan Olsen Clark, Sr. and his father-in-law, James Allen Mobley He is survived by Allison, his wife of nine years, and their children Alice Annabelle (7), Lillian Frances (5) and Oliver Olsen (11 months), his mother, Brenda Deluca Clark, his brother, John Christian Clark and his wife, Lucia, and their children, John Hawkins Clark and Florie Fincher Clark (7), his sister-in-law, Mary Melissa Mobley, his mother-in-law, Linda Lobingier Mobley and many close cousins, family and friends.

Services will be held at Saint Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas on December 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m., the day after Ole Miss beats Texas Tech at the Texas Bowl.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Houston Food Bank.

I had a professional relationship with Alan as an owner of real estate in which he brought us a valuable tenant for our shopping center. Alan was very friendly, professional and able to keep the deal moving forward as he kept everyone's interest in mind. He will be greatly missed and remembered by his peers for his contributions to the field of real estate. We, at DeGeorge Real Estate, are so sorry for your loss.

So so incredibly sad to hear about Alan´s passing. It is such a loss. His humor and elite sarcasm were a formidable combination- I believe he introduced himself to me as Jake the Snake Roberts. And he could make any situation more fun, but always with a genuine warmth. My prayers to John and his family and children. Thinking of them in this tough time.

Alan was always so warm and kind and I so looked forward to seeing him and catching up at family events. I am heartbroken and shocked by this news. I saw him just a few months ago and he beamed with pride as he talked about his children and you, Allison. He adored his family and I will never forget his kindness when my mom was sick. I am so sorry for your loss, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Sending thoughts to the entire Clark family. I will always have fond memories of summers at The Broadwater...even if I was an annoying little sister to my brother´s friends. May you be comforted by his memory.

I wanted to send my condolences to your family. Alan worked on the same floor as my company and every time I would run into him in the halls or on the elevator he always had a smile on his face, in good spirits, and no matter what he would say hi and and check in with me. He was a very personable person who was genuine and humble. He will be missed.

Allison and family, I did not really know Alan but I feel compelled to write you all. His office is next door to ours and we chatted frequently in the hallway/elevators coming and going. He was such a pleasure and a positive light, in the just brief moments we "hallway chatted". In fact, he probably didn´t even know my name, but it doesn´t matter. He was a positive joy, he was a light, and I´m certain his obvious zest for life will continue to shine through all of you. I´m truly sad about his passing even though I never even knew his last name. That´s a testament in and of itself...he touched a life and left a positive mark and likely never knew it. God bless you all. He was called home too soon for you and on our Heavenly Fathers time. I´ll miss his hallway stomping!!
