Alan Delman, M.D. died February 24, 2024, at the age of 85 after a lifetime of bringing beauty, healing and humor into this world. Born on January 25, 1939, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Delman served as a Major in the U.S. Army performing plastic surgery on Vietnam War veterans at Fort Lewis near Tacoma, Washington.
A proud alumnus of Brookline High School, Tufts University, and Tufts Medical School, Delman carved out a remarkable career near Boston, where his hands weren't just skilled with a scalpel, but also with clay for his sculptures, binoculars for birdwatching and a telescope for stargazing. In his retirement, he became an active member of multiple astronomy groups and Arizona Friends of Tibet.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Ginger Delman Applegarth; children, Michael (Stephanie Howard), Deborah, and David Delman, M.D.; grandchildren, Jenna and Eliya Howard-Delman, and Joni and Jules Delman; and stepchildren, Alden and Rickey Bevington. He is predeceased by his late wife, Judith Brenner Delman; brother, Bernerd Joseph Delman; and parents, Abraham and Gladys Delman.
Delman was a very loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. A reception for "Alan's Love for Life" will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Agua Linda Farm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arizona Friends of Tibet and the Green Valley-Sahuarita Samaritans.
