Alan Eaker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 26 to Oct. 27, 2012.
1944 ~ 2012
Alan Floyd Eaker passed away peacefully at home on October 21, 2012, at the age of 68. He was born January 23, 1944, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to parents Floyd Oral Eaker and Marjorie May Nelson. He was the oldest of two siblings.
Alan graduated from Granite High School in 1962. He married Deanna Jean Boswell on August 3, 1962. Together they had a daughter, Jeri Lyn. In 1970 they moved to Alaska. Alan loved everything about Alaska - its beauty and its weather. In 1993 Alan and Deanna divorced. Alan then returned to Utah where he met his soul mate "The Sweetie" Lyn Peterson. They were together until his death.
Alan was a talented master drywaller and, as he put it, he created miracles every day. He loved fishing, hunting, working with wood and ivory and searching for artifacts on the shores of Adak and Shemya Islands on the Aleutian Chain. He crafted clocks from wood with ivory owls in the knotholes and jewelry out of ivory. Alan also took great pride in restoring his El "Al" Camino.
Alan is survived by his daughter, Jeri L. Breshears (Matthew) of Wasilla, Alaska; granddaughters, Mikalyn Rousculp (Joel), Justine Frost (Jake), Cheyenne Breshears, Kaylee Chappel (Tallon), Delaney Breshears; and great-grandson, Milo Rousculp. He adored his granddaughters - they will miss their Papa Al. Alan is also survived by Lyn Peterson and her family, son, Steven Weight; daughter, Cheryl Herman (Daniel), grandchildren; Veronica Weight, Geoffrey Herman and Jillian Herman, who loved him as their own.
Alan is preceded in death by his parents and younger sister, Sherrie Lynn Eaker Janson.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Noon at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, SLC, UT. Messages and tributes to the family can be posted at: www.holbrookmortuary.com

Alan was a quiet man and most assuredly a kind man. He did some work in our home and he really was meticulous in what he did. We will miss him.

So many memoreies I have, include Al. I first met him in Alaska, we were clse in age, and worked in the Drywall business together for several years.

I regained my association with AL, due to a small scrap of paper, which had been left on a job I was working on here in Salt Lake.

It was a happy reunion, and soon, we were working together again.

Al's character, and humor will be missed.

I'll remember him most when the sun first breaks over the mountain.

Lyn,
So sad to hear of Alan's passing. I remember so many fun times when everyone got together for birthdays and holidays. I loved Alan's humor and hearing his stories, and playing trivia games after dinner. Alan will always be watching over his "sweetie". You are in my heart and prayers. Tammy
