I only just found out about Alan's passing today (7/28/19) and was so sorry. He produced a movie I wrote and directed for CBS in 1991, called AN AMERICAN STORY. I loved working with him; he was such a talented producer and a really good man. We had a lot of laughs together, and he and Lynn had just had their daughter, who he was over the moon about. He was wise and decent and kind and we needed more like him. He was also a true New Yorker. I was blessed to have known him.

I met Alan Jacobs only once, at a splendid dinner party in Chapel Hill. Lynn made a heavenly soup and the warmth and energy around the table was extraordinary and most memorable, especially the enthusiastic and interesting questions and stories asked and told by Alan.
Mes condolonces. Rest in Peace. Love to you and to Alan's beautiful daughter, Joy

Alan and I played many a round of golf.
It was always surprising how much fun we could have though neither of us had a lick of proficiency. I joined him on the links yesterday. There he was, always a laugh and a smile as we muddled through.

I cannot think of another man on earth who would not benefit from becoming more like Alan as a human being. Always more interested in what was on your mind than telling you what was on is... warm, compassionate... the blueprint... a gentleman, and a truly gentle man. Wherever great souls go... he is there.

Alan's accomplishments are many and great, but his warmth as a human being surpasses all of these. He was bright, kind, friendly, funny and compassionate. I, sadly, did not spend enough time with him, but enough to appreciate these superlative qualities. I can only imagine the hole his departure has left for his family. My heart goes out to you all.
