Alan Levenson Obituary

Alan Levenson, 75, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in Charlotte. He was in the company of his loving family.

Born June 4, 1941 in Malden, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Mae and Harry Levenson. Alan grew up in Rutland, Vermont and graduated from the University of Vermont. He began his career in New York City, where he met his loving wife of 47 years, Margie. Alan and Margie were married in 1969 and moved to Charlotte nine months later, where Alan worked in the textile industry for nearly 30 years. In his retirement Alan enjoyed managing his own business from home.

Alan's family was the joy of his life. He adored his wife Margie and was a devoted father and loving grandfather. An avid golfer, Al spent many happy days with friends at Raintree Country Club telling stories and working to improve his score. He also enjoyed getting together with his friends for monthly card games and annual golfing trips.

He is survived by his wife, Margie; two children, Matthew Levenson and wife Jamey of Charlotte, and Jennifer Roberts and husband Ken of Raleigh; and three beloved grandchildren, Jessica Roberts, Samantha Roberts, and Millie Levenson; as well as his brother, Stephen Levenson and wife Joan of Bonita Springs, Florida; and sister in-law Joyce Ellenson of Palm Desert, California.

A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 8th from the graveside in Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews.

Margie , you and Alan have been my dearest friends for over 40 years. When Alan passed away I felt like I lost a brother.
We shared so much together over the years
and I have such great memories of Alan and his great sense of humor, his kind and gentle spirit and above all the love he had for his family and friends.
I miss him already.

Alan was a very special person~ kind, loyal, caring, and full of the joy of life. He had an easy, charming manner that spread sunshine wherever he went. His loss "leaves a heartache no one can heal," but his love "leaves a memory no one can steal." [Irish wisdom] He will be greatly missed. My deepest sympathy to all of you.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Al. He was my boss for three years at Ostrow and by far the best boss every. He was very Caring and kind. His family was the joy of his life. Prayers for your family at this time.

Margie and family, It has been a real joy getting reacquainted with Al over the last few years and having lunch with Bennie, Mike and Al. I am sure he had many friends but he once referred to Mike and me as two of his Gentile friends. I had known Al in the mid-70's when he was with Ostrow but coincidently renewed the friendship several years ago through Bennie. We always enjoyed laughing and solving most of the worlds problems over lunch and occasional golf outing. His humor, kind and gentle spirit will be missed by everyone. My thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time.
