Alan was truly an amazing and accomplished man. I will always remember him. My grandmother's closest friend friend of many years. Always a warm, welcoming soul. As a child I looked forward to seeing him at my grandmother's Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas parties. He was a part of our family for many years. Truly one of a kind and a gentle giant, A very influential man in my father's life, myself my sister and my cousins. Mr Young sold me his mother's 1962 Chevy Impala when I was 16. Grandma, dad and myself all headed down to Napa and I drove it home. It floated down the road as smoothly as his vessels. Here's to you Alan as you chart and navigate the hereafter, be sure and stop at our ports of call, when we transition into the eternal energy that God has promised. Your crew is running a little bit behind, but we shall be there, just give us more time.
Smooth sailing ahead, thank you for being a blessing in our lives.

As my grandmother Jean would say, Alan was a "very dear friend", not only to her but to our entire family. We lost touch after losing grandma but you often came up in conversation and when sharing our memories. I had actually started looking for you hoping to reconnect. Well, seems that will have to wait for now, as you are in the other room with grandma and dad. Sure do mess you "Skipper"

Alan was a great friend to the Mealey family and mentor to Ron Mealey. He truly helped shape Ron into a fine military man through his association in the Sea Scouts in Napa. Ron was in the Coast Guard for 27 years, and now in the Coast Guard Auxiliary for about 27 years, training men and women, using the skills learned by Alan. I'm sure Alan would be proud that his mentorship blossomed so well.
Although out of contact for many years, always in our thoughts. Rest in Peace Mr. Young, fair winds and following seas.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Alan. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure that fills our heart with love and brings you joy. May you find comfort in Jesus promise of the hope of everlasting life at John 6:40.
