In memory of
John Henderson
April 4, 2011
Mrs Faulkner and family,
The first I knew of Alaric was yesterday when I was researching my heirs (Thomas Tait family) and read the information he had posted. I am so greatful that he had shared this information and for this reason I was contacting him to say thankyou. It is obvious that he was a great educator and so respectful of generations current and past. My deepest sympathy, John Henderson (Clarksburg, WV)

Gretchen and family, my thoughts are with you. Ric was an inspiring teacher and helped me choose an historical archaeology topic for my graduate thesis. He was always so generous with his research and his time and mentored many students. I have enjoyed keeping in touch over the years with occasional visits and letters. He will be missed.

I'll remember Ric as a generous teacher and mentor. I'm proud to have been part of the last graduate class to enter the Historical Archaeology program at the University of Maine while it was under his direction. My sympathy goes out to Ric's family.

All of us here at Jamestown Rediscovery were shocked and saddened to hear of Ric's passing. We remember fondly the time he spent with us here and we are so grateful for the knowledge and time he shared so freely; he will always remain a great contributor to the field of archaeology, and he will surely be missed!
To his family and loved ones, we are so very sorry for your loss.

Aunt Gretchen, our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. It was such a pleasure to see Uncle Alaric when he stayed with my parents for the Faulkner Gathering in Keene, NH in 2009. I'm so sorry to hear of his loss, to his family and to his profession.

I took two courses with Ric, as a 'returning student' in the field of historical archaeology. He was always encouraging, while demanding the best from us in the classroom. He inspired me to pursue graduate work in the field, and I will always be grateful for the opportunity to have known him. My condolences go out to his family and friends. -R. Holberton

We can only imagine what a hard year it's been for the three of you. What a fun, crazy, and wonderful man Ric was. Abby, our Ausi, sits daily on the front porch waiting for her visit from Niki, Tonka, ..... and Ric. We'll miss him greatly as will so many others. Our thoughts and prays are with you. Please let us know if we can help.
