Albert Auriemma, Sr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 15, 2025.
Albert Anthony Auriemma, Sr. of Ocala, Florida, formerly of Weymouth, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, at the age of 89.

Born in Boston on August 10, 1935, Al spent a lifetime building, fixing, and perfecting-with his hands, his heart, and his signature patience. A devoted husband, he was predeceased by Eleanor Frost Auriemma, his wife of 50 years (d. 2004), and Laura Silvestri Auriemma, his wife of 19 years (d. 2024). He cherished their love and partnership deeply.

Al was a proud father to six sons, Michael (Jean), Albert Jr. (Dorrie), Gerald (Claudette), Leonard (Marla), Alan (Michelle), and the late Lawrence, and stepfather to Jan Cello and the late Robert May. He was a loving grandfather to Jason, Keri, Tony, Joshua, Jessica, Tom, Adam, Brian, Justin, Jordan, Sarah, Corinna and William, and a great-grandfather to 13.

Al built his career as a mechanical engineer with Pneumatic Scale in Quincy, where his ingenuity earned him two patents-tangible proof of the clever mind behind all the family fix-it jobs and golf-swing gadgets. Al loved to play golf and was always tinkering with his game.

After raising their family in Weymouth, Al and Eleanor retired to the Oak Run community in Ocala, embracing the sunshine and slower pace while staying ever busy with projects around the house and a tee time on the horizon.

He will be remembered for his steady hand, his love of family, and the quiet joy he found in a well-struck golf ball. His legacy lives on in the generations he shaped and, in every story shared across the dinner table.

The funeral mass is on Saturday, August 9th at 10 AM at St. Jude Catholic Parish, 443 Marion Oaks Dr, Ocala, FL 34473. Burial follows at 12 PM in Highland Memorial Park, 1515 NE 3rd St., Ocala, FL 34470.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Marion County, PO Box 4860

Ocala, FL 34478-4860, or online https://hospiceofmarion.org/donate/

To the Auriemma family, Albert's legacy lives on through his six sons. When we moved to the Holly Hill area of Weymouth, we were welcomed and became friends with the Auriemma family. My son has made friends with Albert's grandchildren, and I can honestly say that the Auriemma's are some of the kindest and most welcoming neighbors you could ever hope for. May Albert rest in peace.
