Albert E."Gene" Barger, 86, of Battle Creek passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013 at home. He was born in Dayton, Tennessee on January 9, 1927, the son of Jesse and Frances (Stewart) Barger. Albert was in the United States Army serving in World War II. He was employed for many years at the Federal Center, Michner Plating in Battle Creek for 15 years and the housekeeping department of the V.A. Medical Center. He loved going to and watching baseball games and enjoyed traveling to Florida. Albert maintained many yards including the grounds of Dexter Lake Church of God where he was also a member. He loved all his grandchildren. Albert is survived by his wife Emma (Vice) Barger; sons, Tony (Corinne) Barger and John Vice Jr.; daughter, Wanda Dunn; and sister Katie (Jerry) Ferguson all of Battle Creek. Nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and four sisters. Memorial donations may go to Dexter Lake Church of God.
