Albert Bergeron

This is a bit late, I only met Al and Norma a handful of times, but I worked with his son Alan for the last 27 years, a wonderful family. Al was not only a Minister of God's word, but one who lead his family in God's ways, as well as others. The few times I spent with he and Norma gave me an example of Grace and Wisdom, slow to speak, kindness in listening, mostly the reminding me of Ephesians 5:1 ESV a successful imitator of God. I send my sympathy and Love to all of Al's wonderful family, a tremendous leader of, and among men. I'm glad to know Al.....through his son Alan, a dedicated servant of God just like his father Al. May God Bless this wonderful family and all they do to serve our Creator.

Al was probably my all-time favorite preacher/teacher. He consistently presented the gospel of Grace in a kind, loving, thoughtful way without judgement or condemnation. I´ll never forget when he baptized me after the NC Evangelism Seminar on Labor Day in 1975, almost 50 years ago. When we left Brooks Ave. in 1986 and moved to Tennessee, I lost track of Al, and I regret not having stayed in contact with him. His life and teaching certainly emulated Jesus and I´m confident his influence was felt by many others as well and will he be remembered with gratitude.

I wanted to thank everyone who shared such heart-felt memories and stories about our dad. It means more than you can know to see just how much he influenced so many lives in different ways. If I was able to be there for the Celebration of Life, I would have shared this one story: When I was young, probably 10 or 11 years old, attending a VBS (Vacation Bible School), we were asked to select a topic that was of interest to us and read about that topic throughout the week. On the last day, my dad asked if anyone wanted to share what they learned with the group. No one jumped at the chance. We hadn´t prepared for that assignment: no notes, no outlines and no rehearsals...or so we thought. Then my dad said to everyone who was there, "You don´t need to have notes or an outline or even a rehearsal, just speak from the overflow." I don´t even remember what my topic of interest was, although I think it might have had something to do with lizards or pikas or dogs, but I know I was able to stand up in front of the group and share what I had learned from my own study throughout that week. I spoke from the overflow, and I´ve attempted to put that into practice throughout my life. Dad did the same. He lived from the overflow of his reading, studying and researching and it obviously showed in his teaching, preaching and his daily life. Dad lived a sacrificial life, serving the church everywhere he and mom lived. If I were to characterize my dad´s life from God´s Word, that he so deeply loved, it would be the words of Paul in Philippians 1:21, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." Amen dad and we´ll see each other in the next life. Love you all...

Al Bergeron made a big impact on my life at the age of 18 when I became a Christian my senior year in high school. He gave me great advice with a fatherly love and with strong spiritual guidance as I struggled with my parents´ divorce problems. His sermons helped me grow in my knowledge of the Bible and in my faith. I moved away from Brooks Avenue Church after I got married. I know God placed him in my life to help me have a firm spiritual beginning. Forever grateful Al.

One of the best things one could say about a person is how much he / she influenced you in life. Al Bergeron was one of the top 3-4 people who has had that kind of influence on me. In 1972, I was planning on driving to Greenville, N.C. to study the Bible and understand it better under the Way Faith. Al said, " David, we can do that here in Raleigh and you would not have to drive to Greenville. So, Marie and I went to Al and Norma's home 2-3 times each week for the next several months to study the Bible. In my opinion, Al was one of the best Bible teachers I ever listened to all the way down to today. Al was so supportive, listened well, patient, knowledgeable, and loving. Al loved the Gospel and it was at the center of his relationships. I visited him and Norma a couple years ago when his health was failing him, but we picked up with some good memories. I am thankful and fortunate to have known him.

I was so blessed to have Mr. Bergeron in my life. It was really special to have him baptize me. His kindness, compassion, and faith stood strong. He was so important to our family and he will surely be missed.

Al was THE kindest, gentlest, most loving brother. I learned so much from God's word with his teaching, and he taught me how to study the Bible on my own, a great gift. I've remembered his kindness and comfort when my mother died for over three decades. And we loved seeing Al and Norma when we visited in Brevard while they were there. His humble, lifelong dedication to teaching and preaching the gospel and caring for others is a testament to his love for God. To God be the glory! Praying for comfort for sweet Norma, and all of the family.

Elna and I were honored to have Al Bergeron preside at our wedding in Charlotte on May 31, 1975 with our Minister at Providence Road church of Christ, Tommy Alexander. Al was t.he best Bible teacher I remember, tying the Old and New Testament story of Gods love and patience and mercy.

Phil and I have great memories of Al as we both attended Brooks as college students and as we began our family. Big hugs and prayers of sympathy to Norma, Sharon, Alan and Ron.

Here's Dad the way many remember him from the last twenty years or so.

I consider Al Bergeron to be the reason I have any knowledge of God and his plan , because he took me and many sisters under his wing, teaching us lessons that we would grow to understand later. May he take his well deserved rest, and I look forward to seeing him over there.

Al was a wonderful teacher and preacher. We loved your mother and father! When I lost my son many years ago they were the first people to come and she about me and help direct my thoughts on what to do next. They were so sweet and kind.
