Dear Barbara,
I was so saddened to read of the passing of your beloved husband. It was evident even so many years ago when Jim and Al were both leaders in the Republican party that he, like Jim, was a man of integrity, honor and dignity. I was so happy that he went on to rise in the judicial system. May he rest now in peace.

I had the privilege of being Chief Judge DeRobbio's secretary when he was Chief of the Criminal Division in the Attorney General's Office under Mr. Michaelson. I was there and brought him the note from the Governor announcing his appointment as a Judge in District Court. I was there at his request the first time he wore his robe in Warren District Court. What an honor it was for him and for me. God bless you Judge and may you rest in peace. You were the best and will be missed. My prayers are with your family and for your soul. Watch over us.

In 1978 my husband and I stood in the Judge's very small, very cramped office to pledge our troth. What a wonderful text he had prepared for such an occasion! I wish I had a copy of what he said. There were 6 of us squished into his office while he read. I have several pictures of this occasion and have always had a great memory of His Honor standing so stately. For 30 years we have followed the Judge's career as if he were part of our family. We are so sorry to hear of his passing and wish you many gond remembrances of his life as it is his journey through his life, not his birth, which is the sum total of his reputation. His kindness of 30 years ago will always be in our hearts as if it were yesterday.

Carla, Stephanie, Al, Robyn and Jennifer:

Growing up in Edgewood when we did, afforded us the opportunity to be loved and taught by some of the greatest human beings God put on this earth. Your dad was among those great ones. Unfortunately, now is a time when these great people will be leaving us one by one because age is catching up to them. However, they have given us the tools to carry on their legacies and continue to carry out their good deeds and pass along the life lessons they have taught for so long. Respect, Honor, Love and Faith; all the things your dad so strongly believed in. May the foundation in Faith that he gave you hold you up and get you through this difficult time.

I will keep you all in my prayers. Carla, we shared a bond in faith that I have never forgotten. Please know that you especially are always in my thoughts and prayers.

My condolences to the family of Judge DeRobbio. I was an assistant football coach with Al Morro at Classical High School. What a wonderful student he was. He was a leader on the football field. He practiced very deligently. He will be missed.

My hearfelt condolences to Al's family. We played football together at Classical. Laughed a lot; cried a bit. Although I have been away from Rhode Island since 1952 I know that a tremendous loss is felt in the RI legal community as well as the general community.

Judge De Robbio was a wonderful man. He married me to my husband in 1988 and he married my mother and Step-father in 1991. He worked with my late father, David Chernick
who was a bail bondsman.
He will be missed.

I grew up with him, went to school at classical with him, played football at school, and coached at Moses Brown School together. His life and love was with the law, but he would have been an outstanding coach. He knew the game and was great with the students. He was there for me for advice and information. My condolences go out to you and your family during this difficult time.

I will always be endebted to Judge DeRobbio for hiring me for my first full-time employment (Department of Attorney General) after I graduated from college in the early 70's. He demanded that everyone pull their weight in their respective jobs - no matter what position they held in the Department. No slackers in his presence! He may have been tough but he was most certainly FAIR!
Although I only worked with him for about 4 years (under Attorney Generals Israel and Michaelson), he was - without a doubt - instrumental in the work ethics I chose to follow in my own life: work as hard as you can, take pride in your work; but most importantly... always remember to enjoy what you are doing.
He was a wonderful role model for those who worked directly with him throughout the years. He will be sadly missed.

Dear Friends and Fans of Al DeRobbio: Judge DeRobbio personified the best of the Italo-American spirit, from his days fighting wars in the Fourth Ward, to his role as Billy Dimitri's buddy and, of course as a good man,a good father, and a good husband. He managed to mix just the right amounts of bravado and gentility. If you were intelligent enough, he would make you laugh. Al fought the good fight in many ways. . .and he leaves us victorious. Bless him.

Linda and I have known and greatly admired Al for over 40 years. He was a gregarious, lovable guy who enjoyed life and his love of the law. Al was a giant in life, a giant of the judiciary and will be missed greatly. We are very saddened at his passing and all the people of Rhode Island will miss him as well. Our condolences to his family especially Barbara. It was our honor to have known this great man.

He was always willing to help young attorneys learn how to practice. I also appeared before the Judge many times over the years and he was always such an intelligent, honest and fair jurist. He was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed.

Dear Stephanie and Family, my deepest sympathy to all of you. I met Mr. DeRobbio years ago and believe it or not he was cooking. He was a loving man and would do anything for anyone, he gave great support to his grandchildren at all the football practices and games. He will be sadly missed. Those we lean on and learn from leave us the best of memories, always remember that. With all our love and prayers.

When I took over the Prosecution Bureau, East Prov. PD, and dealt with the Judge I had a complete turn around about the court system. He was honest with his rulings and treated prosecutors and defendants with the utmost respect.

Al, Was a man of Honor,Integrity and great moral fiber and most importantly, had & showed compassion for his fellow man. Although I did not have the pleasure of knowing his family, Al helped me considerably when I had a business. He took no nonsense and always followed the Law to the letter. I shall never forget all he did for me and my family.
His shoes will be very difficult to fill, and he will be truly missed as a most HONORABLE JUDGE AND PERSON.
