I have such wonderful memories of Grampa! I used to love going downstairs in his basement to talk to people around the world on his HAM radio: he was so proud and loved to impress us with the technology. I also remember Grampa and I nerding out on our TRS-80 computers, sending each other cassette tapes of games and programs back and forth. I admired Grampa's passion for gadgetry: he was ahead of his time with that computer. Grampa and Gramma used to visit us every month from a Tuesday to Thursday down in Medicine Hat, and I loved those visits. I can still see their car in my mind's eye: we waited for them to pull up just in time for lunch. Later, once he moved into the lodge, Grampa went online! I always felt so special receiving emails from him, knowing that he had handwritten the message, then laboriously typed it out to send to me. The last time I visited him, it really struck me how his family was so important to him. There were pictures of all of his children on the wall, and their children, and their children, lined up proudly for him to see from anywhere in the room. He so cherished his family, and always had a bright smile and asked about the rest of my clan when I saw him. Grampa's twinkling, smiling eyes will continue to shine in my memories.

My Great Grandpa Farmer was a wonderful man. I remember hanging out with him on the ham radio when I was young, and I remember organizing the huge and wonderful stamp collection he gave me. Grandpa was a warm, thoughtful caring man who loved his family and will be truly missed!

I was saddened to see the notice in the paper. I grew up next door to the Farmers spending weekends with my Grandmother June McMahon.I remember him telling us all about the tower in the back yard, what it was for and all of the people around the world that he could talk to. Your parents were always very good to us. This is the end of an era as there isn't anyone left there on that street anymore. Please accept our deepest condolences at the loss of your father. He was a very kind man.
