So sad to hear of Al´s passing. I knew him from bicycling, first meeting him about 35 years ago at Cyclonaut rides. I enjoyed spending time with him on and off the bike, Al was kind and always upbeat. He will be missed for sure. My deepest condolences to Maureen and the rest of his family.

In memory of a wonderful man

I knew Al from the cyclonaut bicycle club. When I started riding with the club 35 years ago Al was one of the more experienced riders who took me under his wing and showed me how to ride in a paceline with a large group of other cyclists. He was almost always at the group rides and was a calm welcoming friend. More recently I would see him only occasionally at event rides like the Josh Billings or Wheeling for healing cancer support ride. Although he was on a different style recumbent bike our conversations were like we had never been apart. I will miss riding and seeing Al very much. He was good bike buddy and a great guy.

Maureen and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I know Al will be sorely missed by so many whose lives he touched, whether briefly or for many years. Barry and I so enjoyed your visit and spending even the brief time we had with you both. May God grant you all the strength to get through this most challenging time.

Maureen and family I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember Al through SPS and Mass Migrant. He was fun, smiling, and upbeat. I laugh when I think of his shenanigans at work. I have moved to NC so unfortunately will not be able to attend the service. Hugs all around, Jamie

Mr. Kaifer was my 6th grade teacher at Samuel Bowles school. He was a very good teacher that made learning fun. He also spent many hours training us to win "Field Day" which was an athletic competition among all the elementary schools in Springfield, a highlight of my young school years. As an adult you can look back and appreciate the teachers that had a real impact on your formative years. Mr. Kaifer certainly was one of them.
