ALBERT KISH Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 27 to Oct. 29, 2015.
Albert passed away peacefully on Friday October 23rd at the Toronto General Hospital. He will be missed by his loving wife Katalin Futo, his children; Bert and Colin, two daughters-in-law; Vanessa and Cathy, two grandchildren; Aris and Ryan, sisters in law; Valerie and Ilona, nephews; Laszlo and Andras, former wife Georgiana and many more in Toronto, Montreal, Budapest, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Albert became an award winning film maker and worked at the National Film Board of Canada for 24 years. He was also an accomplished photographer and his work can be seen at the Stephen Bulger Gallery in Toronto. Albert had a keen and unique creative eye and a wonderful sense of humour. He was gracious, kind, a great conversationalist and very loving. He will be dearly missed.

A celebratory reception to honour Albert's life and accomplishments will be held on Saturday October 31st at the First Unitarian Church, 175 St Clair Ave West in Toronto at 2pm. Friends and family are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association or Toronto General Hospital Foundation.

A few years ago I visited Albert who was in hospital. He said "old age is not for Sissies" which I thoroughly concurred with being round about my 90th year. Albert had a charming wit and vivacity. I wish we had more people like him.

Dear Colin and Cathy;

Your Dad was an inspiration and rare talent. The legacy of that lives on, and will be with you always. I know you will be surprised by your own strength through all of this, that somehow you are able to cope and take care of so many things. Where does that strength come from? Who knows, but it is the first part of a gift that of reaffirming everything your Dad imparted to you, and the second part will be in the daily reminders of just how precious life is that you will notice ever more now that he is gone. Losing a parent is very hard, I know that, but it makes us better human beings.

Much Love:

My deepest sympathies to Albert's loved ones. In 1977, riding In the car with Albert and David Sharples on our way to the première of Bekevar Jubilee in Saskatchewan, I remember thinking there was so much sky and land but so little of us. Whenever I see a beautiful and vast stretch of land and sky I think of Albert.

Dear Family of Albert Kish,

I first met Albert at the NFB in Montreal in 1980 and was immediately charmed by this brilliant.witty, talented and compassionate man. I adored his dark sense of humour and his unique films, particularly "This is a Photograph", which was pure genius and vintage Kish. He was a special soul who brought delight to those around him. Albert's star will never diminish!

My sincere condolences,
Halya Kuchmij

To the Kish family,
Our deepest sympathy to you all. Albert was a good friend and we both have many fond memories. Katalin, we're sorry we never met you. To Colin, Bert and Georgie.....we remember the happy times we enjoyed together. The good times were the films we made together.

Dear Colin and Family:
I remember meeting your father at your wedding. He was an interesting man indeed and memorable. I am very sorry for your loss and send my love and support to you and your family. I am sorry that I am unable to come on Sat. but will be there in spirit. This summer I think we should toast your father with some fine wine and perhaps Foie Gras.He is now with the "best" of them. Sending you much love and sympathy...
