Dear Irene and family,

My husband, John, and I want you to know we will be thinking of you in the days ahead. We both remember your warm hospitality when we visited in your home and how happy we were to see Albert had found himself such an amazing wife, walking with him through challenging times with such grace and love.

When I saw the photo of Albert, I was flung back to a memory I suspect I share with all my Fiske cousins, my sister, Hilda, and my brother, Rudy -- of how Albert's crooked smile lit up a room when we played games together at family gatherings before our family moved away from the Fiske community. Our prayers are with you all.

We are thinking of the Martens family at this difficult time. May the love of your family and fond memories help you through. Albert was a great man and always had time to have a chat. I remember the days of him cheering on the Fiske Flyers Fastball Team and him watching curling at the rink. I also have fond memories as a child being able to enjoy their pool on those hot summer days. I'm glad I got to say hello to him last time I was home, he had the same old smile on his face. Sending our prayers and thoughts to the family.

We are thinking of you all. Irene, you are an amazing woman with an amazing family. I wish I could be there to give you a big hug! Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers!

I remember Albert from about 40 years ago when I last was at your house and his picture reminds me of the wonderful crooked smile he always had, even when he was much younger. My sympathies to you, Irene, and your whole family.
