He was great!!! I just watched American Graffiti and had not seen it in sooo many years and there was AL (Hank Anderson) at the pinball stand. He was just the kind of guy everyone would like to meet and have as a friend. I was so sadden to see he passed earlier this year, but he will be remembered and loved by many. RIP AL and thanks for the fun.

"Inch ka chiga," was how I greeted Al each time I walked down Stockton Street. He would then flash that one-in-a-million smile, the proof in his eyes that the world was still on its axis. So many were proud to call him a friend...he will remain in our hearts as a truly sincere, shining light that gave gentle pause to the busy sidewalk. Consider this: here is a man who used acting to communicate on the movie screen, but he never played a part as he warmly welcomed customers, acquaintances and life-long friends. Al pinned a flower on so many members of my family. Now it's time for all of us to pin a flower on the memories and friendship enjoyed by so many.

We met Mr. Nalbandian on trip to SF a year ago. We stopped by last weekend to say hello and learned of his passing. Rest In Peace Mr. Nalbandian

I remember him and in passing over the many years, I talked with him regarding the thoughtful care he provided for his flowers. I
saw him on a regular basis as I was a property manager on Powell Street.
My sympathies to his family.

a true gentleman ... a San Francisco legend. Mr. Nalbandian would present me with a flower to pin to my coat when I passed his stand at Union Square and said hello. I met him through another true gentleman, Mr. Adrian Laver. He will be missed.

Al is a San Francisco icon. He was really good friends with my grandfather Sam Yenovkian back in the 60s and 70s. Every time I would go with my family and to San Francisco we would go see him and bring him cookies. Just recently he and his daughter Louise made the flower bouquet for my wife at our wedding ceremony at City Hall in San Francisco. He was the most wonderful man with the most beautiful heart. He will be missed by so many. We love you Al!!

His kindness to me when I was a 7 year old girl shopping with my mother is one of my favorite memories of San Francisco in the 1950's. Thank you for making San Francisco so charming.
