OTT
ALBERT W.
Of Pleasant Hills, formerly of Allentown, passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 11, 2015, two days shy of his 89th birthday. He was the son of Albert W. Ott and Esther Shook Ott. AI was the devoted and loving husband of 64 years to Lois K. Ott; and the father of Mary Alice "Gert" Mathew (Drew) of Zelienople, Timothy P. Ott (Vera) of Baden and Glenn W. Ott (Bethe) of Whitehall; he was the fun and loving "Pap" to Joe (Julie), Alecia and Kirsten Ott, Jessica and Spencer Mathew and Morgan and Lake Ott; he was also the great-grandfather of Mason, Lauren, Landon and Mallon Ott. AI leaves one surviving sibling, his sister, Jane Miles (Joe) of Vero Beach, FL; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew A. Ott; and his sisters, Rose Frey, Vera Ott and Mary Schneider. AI was always the life of the party and cherished times spent with his family. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time at his summer home at Conneaut Lake and making the rounds to neighbors on Comstock St. or waiting in his yard for kids and grandkids to show up for an impromptu party. After graduating from St. George High School in Allentown, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines and proudly served in World War II. Upon his honorable discharge from the service, he enrolled in and graduated from Duquesne University after which he took over his father's successful real estate and insurance business in the Allentown section of Pittsburgh until his retirement in 1990. He was a past president of the South Hills Multi List, was on the Board of Directors of Progressive Home Federal Savings and Loan and a proud member of the VFW and the American Legion and one of the longest standing members of the PA Sportsmans Club and the St. George Lyceum. He was a current parishioner at St. Elizabeth Church in Pleasant Hills. In honoring his request there will be no viewing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 19, 2015, at St. John Vianney Parish (St. George Church) at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rudy Smoley officiating.

Glenn,
I was very saddened to hear about the loss of your father. I hadn't seen him in a very long time (Ott Agency Xmas party in the early 2000s) but I remember him as being a very fun-loving person who knew how to enjoy life to the fullest. I remember laughing a lot at that party! I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. You have my deepest sympathies.

My sincere sympathy in the loss of a wonderful man. I will always remember Al as someone who did things right. Many people know how to be a loving husband, a father and grandfather who is cherished by family members, a well respected business leader, a helpful humanitarian, and a really good citizen. Al did all of these things. Showing me that there is no magic in doing things right, you just do it. I will miss Al and his sense of humor, lightheartedness and wisdom. In my opinion and according to my experience Al Ott knew the tax code better than 90 percent of Americans. I know his nature and love is still with all of his surviving family, and my sympathy is to all of you.

Lois, Gert, Glenn and family, Words cannot express our feelings at the loss of such a great man. Al always had a way of making you laugh. He was the guy you always looked for in the neighborhood to put a smile on your face and was always great to watch around his family. He loved you and was so proud of all of you. We will miss him so much and Conneaut won't be the same without him. With love, Linda Gatz and Andrea Wise
