Albert Saladin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 1, 2025.
Albert Roman Joseph "Papa, Pops" Saladin, Sr., age 95, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, in Doral, Florida. Born on February 23, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, Albert lived a long and fulfilling life marked by devotion to family, service to his country, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Albert carried the values of dedication and resilience throughout his life. Those who knew him often remarked on his remarkable ability to fix anything-a talent that seemed almost magical to the children who brought him their broken toys and gadgets. His handiwork was not just a skill but a testament to his patience and care.

Albert had an enduring love for golf. Even when he could no longer play the game himself, he found joy simply being near it-choosing homes with views of lush fairways whenever possible. Watching the game brought him peace and happiness, a quiet reflection of his appreciation for life's enduring rhythms.

Family was at the heart of everything Albert did. He took immense pride in the talents and passions of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His eyes would light up as he watched them pursue their dreams and hobbies. His wife Zenaida; His sister Pat; His daughters Linda, Marie, and Elizabeth; sons Kenneth and Francis; along with more than ten grandchildren and over five great-grandchildren continue to carry forward his legacy of love and perseverance.

Albert was predeceased by his beloved sons Michael and Albert Jr.; his sisters Marie, Marina, Jackie, and Rosita; and his parents Charlotte and Guarionex. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Known affectionately as "Papa" or "Pops," Albert's personality was unforgettable. Many likened him to Carl from Disney's "Up"-the lovable grumpy old man whose tough exterior hid a heart full of warmth and adventure. A treasure trove of stories and experiences, Albert could captivate listeners for hours with tales from every chapter of his life. A true fan of Frank Sinatra (though he may not admit it), he lived fully-and fittingly-did it "his way."

A funeral service honoring Albert's life will be held on May 2, 2025, at Our Lady of the Divine Providence Catholic Church located at 10205 W Flagler St., Miami, Florida 33174. The service will begin at 1:00 PM. Following the funeral service, burial will take place at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery at 11411 NW 25th St., Doral, Florida 33172 at 2:30 PM.

Albert Roman Joseph Saladin Sr.'s memory will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know him. May his legacy bring comfort and inspiration to those he leaves behind.

Dear Lord, we entrust Albert into Your loving arms. May Christ Jesus welcome him into the promise of heaven, where there is no more pain of loss, only the love of God. Grant him eternal rest, O God, and let Your perpetual light shine upon him.

We ask for Your loving embrace to surround this grieving family. May they find solace in Your constant presence and feel your peace that surpasses all understanding. O Lord, grant them strength for each step of the way. Amen
