MARBLEHEAD — Alessandra Marshall "Allie" Castner, 15-years-old, died Monday evening, Aug. 24, 2009 as a result of injuries sustained when she was struck by a car crossing the street.
She is survived by her mother, Julie (Babine) Castner and her fiance Patrick Healey: her father, Christopher Hale Castner and his wife Pamela Castner; her sisters, Lia, Haley, and Marley Castner, all of Marblehead; her maternal grandmother, Betti Babine of Marblehead, and paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Martha (Marshall) Castner of Rockport, Maine. In addition, Allie was blessed with an extended family including aunts, uncles and cousins who loved her dearly and whom she loved as much; The Babine/Burke family of Atlanta, Babine family of Marblehead and Houston, Gordon/Babine family of Marblehead, Smith/Babine family of Marblehead, The Castner family of Boxford, Castner family of Homer, Alaska, the Rockett family of Marblehead.
Born in Beverly Hospital, she has lived in Marblehead all of her life. She had attended the Coffin School, Marblehead Community Public Charter School, Veteran's Middle School and was to begin her sophomore year at Marblehead High School. She was looking forward to playing soccer with the high school for the fall season and would have begun captain's practices this week.
An active athlete she played basketball, tennis, skiing, ice skating and swimming. Allie loved life, loved her family, loved her friends, loved her music and loved her fashion. Beautiful inside and out, she was a great daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin and friend. Her warm, affectionate personality combined with her great sense of humor was magnetic and Allie never missed an opportunity to tell people how much she loved them
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Old North Church, 35 Washington St., Marblehead. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (corner of North Street), Salem. Interment will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to establish the Allie Castner Scholarship Fund, c/o the National Grand Bank, Attn. Jim Nye, 91 Pleasant St., Marblehead, MA 01945.
