My cousin Sandro was the main character of many of my best childhood memories. I will never forget this hot Summer day at the iconic Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken.
We will forever feel his presence at Carmelo's Brooklyn apartment.
He is reunited with Nonna now.

I mostly remember Sandro as a boy and wish I got to be around him more as a teen and young adult. He was so clearly an amazing and brave person. Thank you for sharing his journey over the last 18+ months. As heartbreaking as it was, it was also inspirational. He was and will remain a beacon in a world that needs more of them. I can´t imagine what it must be like right now for those who love him so deeply but I am happy that you had the experience of loving him and should be unquestionably and deservedly proud.

My main connection with Sandro is through beloved neighbors Scott and Jennifer, but it was an eye-opening honor to get to know Sandro himself, just a bit, over the last 18 months. What I liked about him most was his instinctive kindness, his intense curiosity, and his devotion to his mom. Sandro was larger at 23 years old than I ever dreamed. We have lost an important human being.

Sandro,
You are deeply missed. Being your nurse, even if only for a few months, was an absolute privilege. Your strength-both mentally and physically-continues to inspire me. I´ll never forget our trip to Provincetown; it was truly special. Seeing you get into the water was incredibly emotional. I´m so glad we were able to trust each other and work together to make it happen.
And lastly, thank you for being such a wonderful friend. You brought me many laughs, and I´m grateful for all the moments we shared.
May you rest in peace.

Sandro, you were perfect in every way and your family adored you. I saw your strength of will and character each day as you gave your all against the odds. Though your time was short, your example leaves a lasting impression on all you've touched along your way before a higher voice led you from us. Now it's your time to rest.

Sandro, you were such a gentle giant. Thank you for inspiring my son to join wrestling. He lost his dad to cancer, and was going through a rough patch. He asked me if you coached wrestling because he wanted to come to your school lol. Rest in peace, forever in our hearts

Sandro was the strongest, sweetest young man and I'll miss his wry smile accented by those bright, mischievous eyes. I love thinking of him the last time he visited us in Los Angeles - he ate like a horse, and sauntered into Venice Beach's famed Muscle Beach gym, and started lifting like he owned the place. Rest in peace, Sandman. Sending so much love.

It is so sad that someone so young has left us. Sandro was a thoughtful person who always wanted to do better and with support to understand how he could do this he was successful. He always had a big heart and strong feelings about what was fair. Fairness was very important to Sandro and we often chatted about how sometimes perspective changes fairness and it is not intentional.
Sandro always did his best he never gave up and his mom was his biggest cheerleader
Sandro always knew that his mom would be right there for him regardless of the situation. She was his rock and he loved her.
I feel privileged to be a part of Sandro's and his mom´s life. They were such a team and I enjoyed learning from them
I have many memories of Sandro as he was always quite a character, and I truly enjoyed him. When Sandro over on his mom knew we asked him and sent pictures of his many successes to me, which I shared with all the teachers that worked with him. He will always be remembered as a hard-working person with a huge heart and wonderful personality. He will be missed greatly

Sandro was part of the Seminary Hill Farm community during the summer of 2023. He taught us to LOVE ALL vegetables- especially fennel- and grilled them for us with fervor. Sandro truly lived a life of love and compassion. He was open and accepting of everyone, and saw beauty everywhere. He was a wise teacher, and we are grateful that he came into our lives.

It´s so much to say, I´m grateful to have been apart of your life, many memories from sparring at practice everyday to hanging out on the weekends and partying, I won´t forget the times we´ve had, you´ve always been a fighter and a competitor, it´s bittersweet, but at least you get to rest now, love you brother

I taught Sandro at Dearborn STEP back in 2016. He was an incredibly sweet, thoughtful, tough, and funny kid. Over the years, he always stood out as one of my favorite students to pass through my class. I was so grateful that his mother kept admin updated with his growth over the years. How he made great friends and was really dedicated to the wrestling team. Sending my deepest sympathies to his family. - Danny Mitchell

Sandro's high character was evident when we first met. A testament to himself and his noble parents. I remember him for his forthrightness, kind demeanor, and great potential.
With such a combination, who knows what Sandro could have become, and what contributions he could have made to this world! And consider the incredible resilience he showed, throughout this ordeal!
This sort of suffering is not fair, especially upon young people, and I cannot imagine what he went through.
Whatever the causes of these sorts of cancers that afflict youth: I hope they are discovered and rooted out.

I live next door to this beautiful family speaking to Jennifer and her husband when we meet in the street. I heard about Sandro´s illness last year. I thought he would get well. Just now, I asked about him and I´m shocked to hear of his death. Now when I walk by their house, I will say a prayer for this beautiful family who has suffered such a terrible loss.

Rest in peace brother. You´ll be remembered and missed. The first handshake made me realize you were physically so strong, your perseverance and your strength in last 18 months showed me there was no person I have ever met who has fought through like a champion with that handsome smile of yours always on. Made a friend of you, lost a brother in you. I know you´ll still be watching

Although I did not know Sandro, personally, I know his stepmom Lori. I have been following everything that Sandro was going through and my heart goes out to his family. He sounded like a truly remarkable man and I know God has one of the best warriors in his house now. You are not suffering anymore Sandro and you are resting in peace. I will keep praying for you.
