I had the privilege of working as the librarian at Banneker Elementary from 1973 until 1982. Aletha was my assistant for several years. We worked for 2 memorable years in 1974 and 1975 in a Title I summer school at Banneker. Aletha knew so many of the children and made it one of my most enjoyable teaching experiences in my 37 years of teaching. I can truly say that Aletha was always smiling and upbeat, and incredibly creative in working with the students. I am so sorry for her loss but she made a lasting impression on me and will never be forgotten.
