ALEX NEDLEY Obituary
Age 48, on Saturday, April 4, 2015, of Upper St. Clair, formerly of Wilkinsburg. Beloved son of Robert B. Nedley, Jr. and Alexis J. Nedley; loving husband of Sherri Schack-Nedley; devoted and loving father of Dylan, Kaitlyn and Shane; dear brother of Kelly, Kathy (Mike), Ron, Michael (Mary); also several loving nieces and nephews. Alex enjoyed coaching baseball, was an avid sports fan, enjoyed going to his cabin and hunting, also going on road trips with the "GSU Boys", and most of all his greatest joy was spending time with his family. For those that knew and loved him, in the words of Alex "It is what it is". Friends received Wednesday 1-8 p.m. at the THOMAS L. NIED FUNERAL HOME, INC., 7441 Washington St., Swissvale. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Louise de Marillac, 320 McMurray Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15241, Thursday 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the family. EVERYONE TO MEET AT THE CHURCH.

When I knew Alex we were so young; he was wild and funny and it felt good to be around him. He was incredibly loyal too; he stood by all of his friends, no questions asked. That is a very special trait.
Sadly I just found out about his death, over a year later and I am so sorry for all of his loved ones as I am positive this has left a giant hole in your lives. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Alex was one of the greatest individuals I have ever known and I will miss him terribly. Alex and I spent countless hours coaching, talking and generally obsessing over baseball. His kindness and generosity was not only extended to me but also to my sons. Devin was a constant fixture at the Nedley household and camp and that is a kindness I can never repay. Alex let my younger son practice with our travel team and not only made him a better ball player but a better person in general. I don't think Alex would want me to be all emotional but I miss you buddy and I will think of you every time I step on a baseball field.

Dear Nedley Family,
I had the pleasure of meeting Alex, Sheri, Dylan and Shane during baseball many moons ago. We coached together, and watched our sons grow into young men. I can say that Alex was truly a loving, and caring family man and a wonderful person to spend our time on the field with. Although our sons have moved away from baseball for various reasons, I have many fond memories of a good man and my heart hurts for your family. I am sure he is with our God, and our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

USC baseball always had two travel teams in each age group. In a particularly competitive age group, 10+ boys were going to be left out of summer baseball until Alex intervened. Alex called the director and asked to have a 3rd team, while Alex didnt need permission to start a team on his own, he wanted it to be an official USC team, thus he asked for the blessing of the commissioner. Last summer a 3rd team played for USC in 5 age groups, thats over 50 kids because of what Alex started, and successfully completed. I love you for a lot more than baseball brother, I will miss you!!!!

I am seriously saddened about Alex's passing. He was a big part of my VISCO family since childhood. I had best GSU memories and also, wonderful memories of my family vacation and Alex joined us for one week in Ocean City MD. He and my brother Markus had been childhood friends. I grew up seeing him smile when he visited us. He had a very good heart. I remember talking to him a few years ago at Facebook and he was so sweet talking about my Visco family. I will never forget that my late sister April and Alex died on the same day/month. I will miss you so terribly... Alex...and of course, I miss you, April. :(
