Alex ROSHKO Obituary
February 19, 1924 - December 13, 2013
It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear Father and Gigo on December 13, 2013. Alex Roshko of Edmonton unexpectedly passed away in his sleep at the age of 89 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
He will be lovingly remembered and very much missed by his children, Bernice (Bob) Ridley, Cynthia Formaniuk, Bonnie (Derek) Hawkes, Ben (Ina) Roshko and Wes Roshko, nine grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Alex was predeceased by his wife, Jean, in 1997.
Alex was an inventor, always figuring out ways to fix things and new ways to do things! He always said that the day was not long enough when he was busy working on a project but made a point to put all his tools away on Sunday, his day of rest! Throughout his lifetime he enjoyed fishing and telling all the great stories of his fishing experiences. He always had a trick up his sleeve and a joke or two for everyone. God bless him!
Family and friends may pay their respects Thursday, December 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Gigo cherished children. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation, #1502, 8215 – 112 Street, Edmonton, AB, T6C 2C8.

It has been almost 8 months ago that I had the honor of speaking with your father. Our family was deeply moved by his presence and to see him again(after many years) at my fathers (Adam Megley) funeral. I recall your parents as wonderful neighbors on the farm. I am touched and saddened by the loss of your wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. Our most heartfelt condolences to the family and may his memory be eternal.

Alex was a very important part of my life on the farm. When he came to visit his uncle Mike Huculak (my father) he was always funny -i.e. entertaining. I never heard him say anything negative. What a guy! I'll never forget him . Also, thank you Ben for the picture of his mother.
My condolences to his children and their families. How proud you must be! Let us rejoice in celebrating his life.

we have lost a kind, gentle, witty man. My many pleasant memories go back to the farm when we were neighbors - Alex would come over and there was always laughter...he was a great neighbor, always willing to lend a helping hand or in repairing machinery. Although I have not seen him in many years, I will always remember the man with a twinkle in his eye. Cherish the many memories & stories that he left with each of you..these are priceless. It was a gift and a pleasure to have worked with Alex in the home where he lived. He always greeted me with a smile when I came to visit him and brought out his latest invention to share with me. I loved to listen to his stories from the past and the wisdom he shared. I will truly miss this kind and gentle man - my condolences to all that love him.
