ALEXANDER J. AITKEN Alexander J. Aitken, 66, a lifelong resident of Jersey City, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016. Alexander proudly served in U.S. Air Force with the rank of Sergeant during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion. After service he was an MPE mechanic for the U.S. Postal Service. For the last 10 years, Alexander was an HVAC mechanic for the Port Authority of NY & NJ. He also worked 8 years at the Meadowlands Racetrack. Alexander was an avid N.Y. Mets fan, enjoyed playing basketball and spending time with his granddaughters. Alexander was the beloved husband of 40 years to Gail (nee Amabile); Devoted father of Tiffany Lynn & husband Nicholas Lenart; Cherished grandfather of Moxie Rose and Xaylie Lenart; Dear brother of the late Kenneth Aitken. Visitation is from RIOTTO FUNERAL HOME & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07306 (www.riottofh.com) on Friday, November 11, 2016, 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral will begin on Saturday, November 12, 2016, 10:00am at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow 11:00am at St. Anne's Church, Jersey City. Gail, ... my condolences. Al and I served together in Thailand during the Vietnam war. I'll always remember Al as quite a character and one heck of a nice guy. You and Al visited my wife Joan and I during the 70's here in the Rochester NY area and much time has passed since then. Please know that I have thought about Al many times through the years ...
