I am still having great difficulty wrapping my mind around the fact that this wonderful young man will not be coming over to my house for a visit. I first met Alex when he came to my home to fix my computer. This was the beginning of a wonderful friendship. Both avid readers, we often shared books that were our favorites. Alex was one of the brightest, kindest, and most sensitive young men I have ever met. In my thirty five years as a teacher and professor, I have loved many of my students but Alex was a unique one. He always had to take time to pet and talk to my beloved and very old cat named Jack and when Jack heard Alex drive up in his little red car, Jack ran to the door to greet him. It is clear to me that Alex loved his family. He talked about his Mom, brother and sister-in-law and his grandparents with great affection. In fact, his last message to me was that he and his grandmother were enjoying the pumpkin bread I always gave him to take home. I want his family members to know how dearly they were loved and how much I too, will miss him.
