Alexander Jaffe Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 4, 2025.
Alexander "Al" Jaffe, dear husband, loving dad, proud papa, and loyal friend, died peacefully on February 28th, 2025. He was 81.

Al was born in Chicago, IL, on April 22nd, 1943, to Frances "Chickie" Falbo and Alexander Jaffe. When Al was four years old, he was at the grocery store with his mom and asked for a watermelon. His pregnant mom told him he could have it if he carried it the half-mile walk home on the hot summer day, which he gladly did. Al served in the U.S. Army which included a posting in Alaska. He began his career at Wrigley before moving to Zenith where he met his wife, Vera. He spent much of the rest of his career at W.W. Grainger where he was responsible for IT management and known for teaching co-workers how to play Craps when there were a few extra minutes left in meetings.

Al enjoyed meeting up with his friends for breakfast and lively conversation, helping out at church, having family dinners, fixing and improving things around the house, and taking several special trips to Italy with cousins and Disney World with his family and grandchildren.

Al is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Vera Pazzali Jaffe; his children Benjamin Jaffe (Katie) and Erin Ricci (Mike); his grandchildren Camilla, Julia and Kate; and his sister Patti Hamilton (Ray) and brother Joel Jaffe (Jeannie); and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations to www.psp.org are appreciated.

Visitation will take place on March 9th from 3 pm - 8 pm at Williams-Kampp in Wheaton. A funeral mass will be at St. Daniel the Prophet in Wheaton on March 10th at 10 am.

Al was a terrific guy. I really enjoyed working with him at Grainger for so many years, as well as the lunches and card games we enjoyed. He was a caring and wonderful friend. He will be missed - my condolences to his family.

Al was very special and there are too many great memories to mention them all, but many lunches and card games come to mind. He was a mentor and a great friend. Wishing his family prayers and condolences during this difficult time.

Al was one of my bosses at Grainger and helped shape my career. I appreciated his toughness and enjoyed his sense of humor. He could always make me laugh! At my old team lunches, I always asked about how he was doing. He will be missed. My condolences to the family.

Al Jaffe was a great man. I enjoyed our lunches and the humor he brought to the table. He always had a great outlook on life (in a grumpy way). I will miss him. Rest in peace Big Al.

I worked with Al for over twenty years at Grainger.
He was a co-worker, boss, and a dear friend.
His dry sense of humor always made me laugh.
When you work with someone that long you become quite close.
Lunches, dinners, card parties, and many discussions on families,
life, and faith. He always asked about my family and how they were doing.
Working together in IT can sometimes be quite stressful but he would always have a joke to tell us to keep us loose and relaxed. My deepest condolences to Vera, Ben, Aaron, and the Jaffe family. I know he had a deep faith and is home with God and that I will see him
again. Peace be to memory. Tony Senatore
