Alexander Niezgoda Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 1, 2024.
Alex Niezgoda, beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed on from this life, Saturday, September 7th, 2024, at the age of 41. He is survived by his parents Bill and Anita Niezgoda, sister Katie, brothers Brandon (Amy) and Colin (Diana), nephew Robert, as well as treasured aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Alex was predeceased by his grandparents and cherished uncle, Patrick Kelly.

Alex grew up in Niskayuna, New York, where he developed his love of languages. Through travels with his family, he was captivated by the vibrancy of city life, and early on, felt confident venturing out independently to explore more of what the world had to offer. Alex's innate charisma and ability to immerse himself in cities paved the way for a successful career in the hospitality and travel industries. He began as a concierge and later advanced to corporate positions at Expedia and Google.

Alex made friends wherever he went and loved sharing his passions with everyone he met. He lit up the room with his radiant smile and infectious laugh. Alex encouraged his friends and family to broaden their horizons and break out of their comfort zones. Alex was a proud gay man who said, "It feels so good to live your truth."

We will miss you forever. Thank you for showing us how to make the most of life.

A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Trevor Project or The Human Rights Campaign.

Alex will always be cherished by Steve and me as that angelic child and brilliant young adult who blessed this world while he was on it and still does in our memories. Whenever he and I spoke in French, he demonstrated that he was the consummate globalist. May the love surrounding all the Niezgodas and his friends on his birthday shine everyday.

One of our favorite memories of Alex was when he moved to Boston in 2015 .
Alex came and joined us for Thanksgiving. Many of his Aunts, Uncles and Cousins were there- Uncle Tom, Aunt Debbie, cousins Jessie and Grace, Aunt Gayle, Uncle Brian , Aunt Robin and cousins Brian, Dean and Troy.
This is one of my favorite pictures of Alex with some of his first cousins. It shows Alex´s beautiful smile and you can feel his love of family.
Alex will always be a household name in our big family.

Alex was a little boy and asked if he could take a walk around my neighborhood to look at the cars. He came back and named the make and model of every car in every driveway. He had a photographic memory and he was so darned cute!
