My sincere condolences to Ken and those close to Alex. Thanks to him, I got my first job as English assistant in Nantes, which led to a teaching career in France. No expression of gratitude could ever be enough.

I just heard of Alex's passing today. I am so sorry to hear of this. He was an inspirational professor and colleague and a gentle, caring spirit. What a loss! My deepest condolences to Ken and family.

Just heard about Alex's death. I took a wonderful class in conversational French frohim last winter through the Lifelong Learning Centre in Regina and was hoping to repeat the experience in the Fall. He was a fantastic teacher and will be sadly .missed.

In recent years at the University of Saskatchewan, Professor Sokalski helped many graduate students in various subjects gain knowledge and appreciation of the French language. His unassuming, patient manner, capacious knowledge, and clear, finely paced teaching will long be remembered.
