Tietz, Alexander
73, a former Columbus, Ohio resident, died on Christmas Day, December 25, 2013. Surrounded by loving family and friends, he was released from prolonged illness at his long-term care residence at Avalon Shadow Mountain Nursing Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. Born on January 3, 1940 to parents Adeline (Granson) (deceased) and Freidrich Tietz (deceased), Alex immigrated from Bremerhaven, Germany to America in 1952, settling in Columbus, OH. He is survived by half brothers and sisters Otto, John and Steve Milke as well as Hildegard Gramelt-Doup, sons and daughters of Victor Milke (deceased). Alex was a beloved father to Laurie Lowe of Cave Creek, AZ and son-in-law Jerry Lowe; son Christopher Tietz, daughter-in-law Julie Tietz, and three beautiful and talented grandchildren, Carter, Tyler and Kennedy of Commercial Point, OH. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Linda Flowers of Orient, OH. While no services will be held, memorial donations are requested in lieu of flowers to The Foothills Caring Corps. Mercifully, providing transportation to doctor appointments, Meals-on-Wheels and companionship, this gracious agency was instrumental in Alex's life, allowing him to remain as independent as possible for many years prior to his admission to skilled nursing.
