Alfonso A. Arechiga Calumet Township Alfonso A. Arechiga, age 80, of Calumet Township, passed away Friday, April 13, 2007 at his residence. He was born in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1947-1951. He was a member of the Inland 25-Year Club and was retired from Inland Steel as a Foreman in 1982. His favorite pastimes were watching his beloved Chicago White Sox and playing pool. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Aurora Arechiga; son, Javier Arechiga of Gary, IN; daughters: Martha Arechiga of Gary, IN, Dora Arechiga and Norma Garcia, both of Chicago, IL, Gloria Arechiga of Merrillville, IN, Anna (Henry) Torres of Schererville, IN, Anna Arechiga of Valparaiso, IN and Binti Arechiga of Gary, IN; grandchildren: Aren, Carlos (Christy), Jerry, Joaquin, Anthony, Arek, Trini, Sergio, Austin, Jaime and Christopher; 12 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jose Santos; beloved dog "Pepe"; and many nieces and nephews residing in Texas and California. Friends may visit from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2007 at Rendina Funeral Home, 5100 Cleveland St., Merrillville, IN. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Cremation to follow.

Alfonso Arechiga your DAD, Husband, brother-in-law, Grandpa, friend and son, was truly a man that was loved and gave love through and through. He wanted and gave his best to his family and his family as well, wanted and gave him, their best in return, especially at a time, where it was most needed. I was not close to him, but it was obvious the LOVE was truly there. He will truly be missed but he will eternally be LOVED.
