Met Al in Charleston via Notre Dame and Lisa. Really enjoyed him, especially his big cigar and pacing nervously outside ND Stadium. Really neat guy as well as the family.
He was a fun guy to know when I was a 20-something.
My best and prayers are with the Adornetto family.

Dear Adornetto Family:
Al was a real Notre Dame guy. His love and attitude for Notre Dame approached, but did not equal that of his family. May he rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear of uncle Al’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Uncle Al was such an amazing person. I don’t recall a family function or event where I wasn’t paying attention to him. He had a way. I know three times as much about Phillip & Catherine Adornetto’s struggle to make a place for their family in Zanesville because of Uncle Al. Never pedestrian, his stories were so visual and heroic. Comedies or tragedies; no one was better at coloring the human struggle with such humor. Uncle Al would be talking, and I can remember Grandma Catherine’s eyes twinkle… “He’s my funny one.”
He lived on purpose, most definitely. The spring in his step, those deep brown engaging eyes, his intonation…and boy oh boy, how he made me pay for being a Buckeye fan whenever we talked football. I would just bow my head and take my statistical beating. Notre Dame’s biggest warrior in Buckeye country and beyond.
I am so proud to be his nephew.
We love you!

Dear Linda, I am so sorry for your loss. You may not remember me, but we go way back to playing together on Brighton Blvd, and then Brownies with your mom as the leader and then friends later in life also. We went to NY with Pat Hosey, remember?
Sincerely, Ruth Ann Gregg Sweeney

Al was a great friend to Notre Dame and will be missed by members of not just the local Greensboro Club but all of the Notre Dame family. We keep him in our memory as a great example of what a Notre Dame man can be.
