Alfred Agamedi, 84, of North Charleroi, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, in the emergency room of Mon Valley Hospital. He was born July 31, 1925, in North Charleroi, son of the late Aganore and Soccorsa Arrigoni Agamedi. He attended the Gospel Alliance Church of Charleroi, and was a member of the Lock Four Fire Department since 1945, serving as chief for 21 years and treasurer for 51 years. He was also a former borough council member for 14 years and for the past eight years was mayor of North Charleroi. He was a member of the Pa. Association of Mayors and the Association of Mayors of the Boroughs of Pa. Aggie retired as a dispatcher for Guttman Oil Co., and formerly owned the Mon Valley Esso Station in Charleroi. Surviving are his wife, Judith Smith Cardinale Agamedi; one son, Joseph Cardinale of Charleroi; three daughters: Rachel Cardinale of Charleroi, Claudia Cardinale of Tucson, Az., and Ann-Marie (Darrell) Moody of Hixson, Tenn. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Jared, Taylor and Dalyn Moody of Hixson. Tenn., and Carissa Vaughn of Thompson Station, Tenn.; one sister, Delma Latour of California, Pa., and her son Frank Latour of Roscoe; many nieces and nephews, and a dear family friend, Mary Youger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Shuett Agamedi, in 1985; and two brothers, Lawrence and Robert Agamedi. Friends will be received in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 11 a.m., with Dr. Allen B. Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Lock Four Fire Department. The Lock Four Fire Department will conduct a service in the funeral home Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
