Mark Myers

My grandparents were visiting my brother and I at the University of La Verne. It must have been 2000/20001 so he would have been about 64/65 years old. He was taking us out to Dinner at Pinnacle Peak steakhouse in San Dimas. On our way to the restaurant, he noticed a truck driver had gotten his semi caught on a pole. Pop pulls over and climbs up on the step box to talk to the driver. I have no idea what he said but we could see the driver move over and Pop taking the wheel. So he gets the truck off of the pole in one shot, climbs down and starts walking back to the car. I don't know how long his truck had been stuck there but he is just staring at Pop in disbelief as he walks away. He jumps down and is jogging toward us. He takes his hat off as he approaches and we can see that he's not much older than Steve and I, maybe in his late 20's. He's fidgeting and putting his hands in his pockets like he wants to pay him or give him something for the help. Pop puts his hand out for him to shake and he shakes his hand, looks up and says," I just wanted to say thanks". Pop looks at him and says, "Oh, you're welcome son". That was it. He got back in the car and we went to dinner.

Dear Doris and your family,
Jack always meant so much to my mother Martha Lee, and I remember days of working with him when I was Del Norte's loan officer. I still cherish those times when the gang was all together, coworkers and friends. Jack was a special man. I am sorry for you and your family in this time of loss.
