Alfred Rue Reynolds, 74, passed away January 15, 2023 due to complications from COPD. He was surrounded by loved ones. Alfred was born June 25th 1948, in American Fork Utah to Mary Jane Windley. He was later adopted by his father Dale Reynolds. Alfred Grew up in Payson Utah and attended Peteetneet school, and Payson High School, graduating in 1966. Alfred, like any little brother, thought the world of his older brother Bobby, and always looked up to him, even in his final days he lit up when his mother and older brother visited him in the hospital. Alfred was also very close to his younger siblings Ed, and Vicki. In high school, Alfred began dating the love of his life, Mary Thomas and they were married October 27th, 1967, soon after Alfred was drafted into the United States Army. Alfred then shipped off to Fort Lewis Washington for basic training. Alfred served in the Army from 1967 to 1973, and fought bravely for our country in Vietnam from April 1968 to June 1969. While in Vietnam Alfred went beyond the call of duty and was awarded the nation's third highest award a soldier can receive, the Silver Star, as well as two Bronze Stars, all for valor in battle. He also received three Purple Hearts, and a Vietnam Gallantry Cross from the Republic of Vietnam, among many others, making him one of the most highly decorated soldiers in the state from the Vietnam conflict. You would never know from his humility that he had accomplished any of this.
After returning home from Vietnam, Alfred worked at the Burgin mine and attended the Utah trade tech, where he received an associates degree in the science of welding. He then worked as a maintenance man and welder at Heckett Engineers from 1973 until he had to medically retire in 2001. Alfred never let retirement slow him down, he could be found anywhere his children or grandchildren were, always supporting them. He lived for his family and was very protective of them, even in his final moments he was concerned for them over himself, he was their rock. If Alfred wasn't with his family he was either teasing someone and making them laugh, watching court shows on television, or talking on the computer with his recently connected brothers from Mike platoon, D company 1/2 1st infantry as he would say. He looked forward to speaking with them as much as possible.Alfred and Mary had three children. Meredith(Ralph) Garcia, Danyelle Harward, and Jory Reynolds. Alfred also raised one grandson, Dustin(Maegan) Harward and loved him as a son. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary, and son, Jory.
