Strauss, Alfred

Alfred D. Strauss, age 73, New London, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 16, 2016. He was born on February 6, 1942, Shawano, son of the late Alfred & Lucille (Schweitzer) Strauss. On August 10, 1968, he was united in marriage to Janalee Zaddack. Alfred resided in Appleton, Hortonville and for the past 15 years in the Town of Liberty, New London. He was formerly employed at Neenah Foundry, Anchor Foods, Appleton and Bay Shipbuilding, Sturgeon Bay until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, grilling and being with his dog Tigger, but most of all he enjoyed time spent with his family. Alfred served his country in the US Army in Vietnam and was a member of the National Guard and Army Reserve until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Janalee. Two daughters, Renee Ehlke, New London, Jennifer (Chris) Brickham, Hortonville. One brother, Ken Strauss. Two sisters, Carol Laffin, Barbara Hurley, all of Shawano. Four grandchildren: Crystal Strauss, Heather (Luke) Collins, Alexis Brickham, Jacob Brickham. Two great grandchildren, Gavin Collins and Braxton Strauss. He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Dorothy (Bill) Hagemann, Shawano. Nieces and nephews, Jim (Kelly) Strauss, Dan (Carmen) Strauss, Tony Strauss, Jason Lafffin, Dave (Mary) Hurley, Tony Hurley, Kylee (Jimmy) Jones. Also several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-in-law, Dennis Laffin and one niece, Julie Laffin.

The Funeral Service for Alfred will be held at 11:00a.m. on Thursday January 21, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Greenville with Rev. Joel Heckendorf officiating. Interment will be in the Ellington Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenville on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, from 5:00 to 8:00p.m., and on Thursday at the church from 9:00a.m. until the time of service. Military Honors will be held at the church.
