BARKER, Alice (nee Kershaw) - Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the age of 84. Born August 28, 1925 in Todmorden, England. Alice immigrated to Canada with her beloved late husband Albert in 1957 and spent most of her life residing in Scarborough. She leaves behind her sons Peter and John (Jennifer) and daughters Ann and Susan (Brian). Loving Nanny and Grandma to Kristin, Kyle, Josh, Jason, Jamie, Jonathan and Christopher and Great-grandmother to Malcolm. Predeceased by her son Paul, taken at three months. Alice was a longtime employee of Simpsons and the Bay. She was a wonderful cook and baker, accomplished with a sewing machine, knitting needles and her passion later in life was the art of Decoupage. Alice will be remembered by her family and many friends, all of who will miss her smile. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of McDougall & Brown Funeral Home 'Scarborough Chapel', 2900 Kingston Rd. (just east of St. Clair Ave. E.), on Saturday, July 10 at 1 p.m. with visitation 1 hour prior. A reception will follow at the funeral home. If desired, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Ann, Susan, Peter and John,

My deepest sympathies on the loss of your mother. I have wonderful memories growing up and having your family as neighbours. It makes me smile to remember our mothers having hours long chats over the backyard fence. May you have many happy memories to comfort you. My thoughts are with you.

I have very nice memories of both Alice and Albert Barker. They were good neighbours. I remember them in our house every boxing day in my parents annual party. I also remember baby sitting Ann and Susan on a few occasions. I hope the family is doing well.
