I was a lucky one to have worked with Alice for nearly 30 years. She brightened every single one of those days. No matter the weather, or the stresses of the job, she could light up the entire building. We had a constant stream of visitors from all over the State, and Alice was the first person they met. Many high level people in State Government always made it a point to check in on Alice. They never forgot her name either. "How's that Alice doing? Boy, she's a great one, that gal!" Alice always knew the best jokes, because she had a special pipeline from every Maintenance Station in the District. And, that pipeline got longer everytime one of the "guys" promoted up the ladder.
My condolences to her family for their loss must be immeasurable. Alice was truly one of a kind. And, I was blessed to have been in her world.

I often think of Alice from the years in the 1950's we worked together at the State Division of Highways, in old barracks buildings in Bishop, while we waited for the new office to be built. She was also the lovely maid of honor at my wedding. Rest in peace, my dear friend. Karla Anderson Jones, Arroyo Grande, CA
