ALICE B. DENNO, age 81, died on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at William Beaumont Hospital, in Royal Oak, Michigan. She was born Alice B. Eramya on March 12, 1930 in Mosul, Iraq to Bashir and Fadhila Eramya. She had been a resident of Rochester Hills, Michigan for 27 years, and was a former resident of Detroit for 34 years. Mrs. Denno was an ESL (English Second Language) teacher for Ferndale Adult Education for 18 years. She enjoyed swimming, singing, sewing, and crocheting. Mrs. Denno had a passion for people, was a good Samaritan, and enjoyed helping underprivileged people. She was a very active and founding member of her church, SS Peter & Paul Syrian Orthodox in Southfield, Michigan, where she was also a co-founder of the ladies' auxiliary. Mrs. Denno was very proud of her ethnic heritage. Deceased Husband: the late Jamil Denno, deceased Dec. 29, 1992. They married May 14, 1950 in Iraq. Surviving Children: Mary Bedikian (Yervant), Drs. Jerjis Denno (Shatha), Benjamin Denno (Linda), Zena Shammas (Severius), and Basil Denno (Mervat) Grandchildren: Dr. Sarkis Bedikian, Dr. Shant Bedikian, Kristina Bedikian; Marie Denno, Jamie Denno, Michelle Denno; Nora Denno, James Denno, Christopher Denno; Serena Shammas, George Shammas; Hannah Denno, Grace Denno, Faith Denno Surviving Siblings: Samir Eramya, Adeeb Eramya, Anis Eramya, Fayeka Dallo, and Samira Majeed Visitation: Friday, May 20, 2011 from 3-8 PM at A. J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road, Troy, MI 48084 (between Maple and Big Beaver Roads), with an evening Prayer Service at 7 PM Funeral Service: Saturday, May 21, 2011 – 10:30 AM at SS Peter & Paul Syrian Orthodox Church, 25566 Lahser Road, Southfield, Michigan, with Reverend Ed Hanna officiating. Visitation at church begins Saturday at 10 AM Interment: Forest Lawn Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan Memorial Tributes may be made to: SS Peter & Paul Good Samaritan Fund, 25566 Lahser Road, Southfield, Michigan 48033
