Alice Isabelle Hughes Hockett

Alice Isabelle Hughes Hockett CHILHOWIE, Va. Alice Isabelle Hughes Hockett, age 87, passed away on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, in the Smyth County Community Hospital. She was born in Chilhowie on June 3, 1923, to the late William Edward and Margaret Wolfe Hughes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lee "Bill" Hockett; a sister, Laura Elizabeth Hughes Overbay; and a son-in-law, Mike Griffiitts. She was an active member of Riverside Baptist Church and greatly loved her family and church family. She is survived by: her twin daughters, Alice Faye Hockett Griffitts, Marion, Va., Ella Mae Hockett Frazier and husband, Billy C. Frazier Jr., Chilhowie; one granddaughter, Mackenzie Paige Frazier; two brothers, William Edward "Billy Ed" Hughes and wife Tessie, Marion, James M. "Jimmy" Hughes an d wife Mildred, Chilhowie; her sisters, Nancy Jones, Chilhowie, Margaret Ann Tilson, Chilhowie, Mary Agnes Perry, Henderson, N.C., Carolyn and Stuart Buchanan, Marion, Patsy McClure, Bristol Virginia, Sue and Warren Byrd, Marion; her special caregivers, Patty Blevins, Debbie Hughes, Ann Frazier, Brittney Thompson; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at the Bradley's Funeral Chapel in Chilhowie with Dr. Jack Garland, Rev. Neville Mozingo and Rev. Billy C. Frazier Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Riverside Cemetery.
