ALICE HUMPHREY Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 25, 2012.
With sad hearts we announce the passing of Alice "lil Alice" Humphrey. She soars with the Angels now. Alice was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 270, Fraternal order of the Eagles Aerie 4089, Amvets Post 911. She was a dedicated and extremely active volunteer. She will be greatly missed by her faithful BINGO players at Emery Bennett Veterans Nursing Home. Alice was devoted to them bringing them goody bags, snacks and Bingo prizes, once a month. She loved them and never tired of being there. There will forever be a certain sadness on Sunday Breakfast at the Eagles, not seeing that little black head bobbing around from table to table. The same can be said for Friday Night Fish at the Legion. She touched many, many lives, and she will be sorely missed. She was a loving and devoted sister to Billy and Wally. She leaves behind to mourn her loss, her cousins Jane and Don Beardslee, Jini and Dennis Lariviere, Port Orange, FL; nephews Billy Humphrey Jr, and Walter Humphrey; nieces Becky Garvey, Beth Kirchner, Amy, Kelly, and Katie; and many other great-nieces and nephews; along with many, many friends. Alice's 16 years in Florida are among the happiest of her life. She loved her Florida home and she lived her life to the fullest here enriching every life she touched. A Memorial to honor Alice's life will be held today (November 25, 2012) at 3:pm at the American Legion Post 270, 119 Howes St, Port Orange. Please come out and help us celebrate this incredible woman's life.

Almost a year my wee friend......unbelievable.......each day that goes by, you and those that are there with you are in my prayers and thoughts. You touched my life most profoundly and the place just isn't the same. I know that Barbara is there with you along with Ms Shirley. I know that there is a special place for all of you up there. And I know that you are soaring with the Angels. Please continue to "visit" me in all your little ways. Until I see you again my friend, know that I love you, and I miss you terribly.

My litte Alice.....my litte White Rabbit,
Words cannot express the sorrow that I am feeling.....my world will never be the same.....the world that you created at the American Legion, and Emery Bennett, will never be the same. You were a true American, a true person, and an incredible human being. I will forever love you, and forever cherish "our" special memories. Don't worry about Billy, my wee friend....he will be well taken care of. No one could ever fill your shoes, but I am going to do my best to at least squeeze my foot into them.
Thank you Alice for standing beside me yesterday, for gently prodding when I felt I couldn't go on, for just letting me feel you there.......I love you Alice, and I will forever. Thank you for being a part of my life and enriching it the way you have.
