Alice Kessler Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 7, 2025.
Alice Mary (Courduff) Kessler, affectionately known as Duff, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025. She was the devoted Wife of the late Paul Charles Kessler. Born on February 28, 1931 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the Daughter of the late Alice (Love) Courduff and Albert Courduff. Sister of the late Kenneth Courduff. She was a proud graduate of Frankford High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She worked as a Nursery School Teacher, where her nurturing way and kind heart were truly appreciated by all her young students. As children we all remember former students enthusiastically calling out her name to say hello on crowded streets and local stores, many years after they were in her class. Driven by her entrepreneurial spirit she owned both MacDuff House Antiques in Philadelphia and Doylestown Flowers and Gifts in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Alice was a life long Episcopalian. And a faithful member of both St. Andrew's in the Field Episcopal Church in Philadelphia and Trinity Episcopal Church in Solebury, Pennsylvania. She lived her life of devotion quietly and spread it throughout the greater Community through acts of kindness, generosity and love for all people regardless of color, status or gender.
Alice adored her family above all. Her heart overflowed with joy and tenderness for her loved ones. All of her Nephews and Nieces and especially for her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. She is lovingly remembered by her three Daughters , Susan Kessler, Linda D'Angelo and Ali McMenamin and her Son-in-Laws James D'Angelo and Michael McMenamin. Her Grandchildren, Paul and Sarah Lanzetta, Michael and Lori D'Angelo and Michael and Evie McMenamin and her cherished Great-Grandchildren, Ava Lanzetta, Weston Lanzetta, Vivian D'Angelo, Evelyn D'Angelo and Quinn McMenamin.
At 93 her unbridled zest for life and service brought her full circle when she was nominated and voted in as the President of the Resident's Council at the Milford Senior Care Center. She took on her role as an advocate for fellow residents and for anyone in need of a voice. She was a force to be reckoned with for the right cause and held that position until her passing.
Her family is mourning her loss, but the wisdom and gifts that she gave to all of us will remain in our hearts and in our actions as we navigate life without our precious Mom, Gram and GeeGee. The family will hold a private service to celebrate Alice's life. She will be interred at the Cemetery at Trinity Episcopal Church in Solebury, Pennsylvania.

I will never forget the first time I heard an angel, Alice Kessler, while working at James D´ Angelo´s Hair Salon. She was the mother of the owner´s wife, Linda D´ Angelo. It was a busy Saturday morning, and the salon was noisy, filled with chatter. I overheard a gentle voice behind me that reminded me of my own beloved mother. At the time, I didn´t realize this sweet, gentle voice belonged to the proud grandmother, GeeGee, watching over her young grandson, Paul, who was nearby, as if she were comforting him. I soon learned from James that Alice was his mother-in-law, and young Paul was his stepson. Besides her gentle kindness toward young Paul, she was very refined in her fashion style from head to toe. I quickly discovered that Alice expressed her love, sacrifice, and generosity to all her family-her children, grandchildren, and extended family and friends-every day of her life. I have been blessed to have known a saint like her. Alice, your legacy lives on.
We thank you with all our hearts. We love you!
God Bless,
Catherine Nagle
