Alice Robichaud Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 24 to Aug. 25, 2006.
ROBICHAUD - Alice Evelyn (nee Taylor). It is with profound sadness the family announce the sudden passing of Alice Robichaud. Alice is survived by her husband, Roger; four daughters, Terry (Dave) Wasylow (Carrianne and Casey); Shelly Robichaud (Ryan and Dustin); Sheryl (Garry) Ehlert (Shawn and Kelly); Michelle Robichaud (Jannelle); three sons, Pat (Susan) (Leslie (Terry) Edwardson, Colette, Tyson and Kristy); Barry; and Bobby (Cheri) (Kyle and Deanna); great grandson, Jacob Edwardson; four sisters, Ellen McDonald; Bonnie (Al) McKay; Glenda (Ron) Siemens; Maureen (Rick) Ketchum; three brothers, Jim (Pat) Taylor; Arnold (Sharon) Taylor; Gordon (Diane) Taylor; brothers-in-law, Maurice (Yvonne) and Marcel (Margo) Robichaud; sisters-in-law, Joanne (Wil) Miskolzie and Claudette (Bill) Newman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Alice was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Pearl Taylor; parents-in-law, Joseph and Rose Robichaud; brothers-in-law, Jim McDonald, Paul Robichaud. Alice was born in Kenaston on December 26, 1936 to Jake and Pearl Taylor. Alice grew up in the Zid District where she attended grade school, and her high school years were spent at L.C.B.I. in Outlook. She went on to become a teacher in a country school called "Antelope Lake " in the Stone District which is situated near Eastend. It was there that she met her husband, Roger, of 52 years. They were married in August of 1954 and began their life together on their farm which was a mile South of the school she taught at. They began their family soon after they were married, and through the years were blessed with seven children which includes two sets of twins. Their lives were devastated when a fire destroyed their farmhouse in 1964. They were able to rebuild their home and continue farming until 1966. At that time Roger found employment in the construction of Shaunavon Hospital. He was transferred to Saskatoon with Engineered Homes. In January of 1968 they sold their farm and moved to a new lifestyle in the city. Roger continued to work in the construction and lumber business until 1989. Then together they started a family trucking business which they still operate today. While raising their seven children, Alice did some home babysitting and also cared for foster children who were in need of a home. In 1981 Alice took a Special Needs course and was employed within the Health Care System, retiring in 1992 due to health problems. Alice's heart shone bright, even through all the illnesses she had had through the years. She kept herself busy by surrounding herself with her kids and grandkids, and now a great-grandchild, which were her ultimate pride and joy. She loved the many family reunions and gatherings, enjoyed her gardens and flowers, and especially enjoyed time spent with Roger and family camping in their fifth-wheel. Alice was truly devoted to her family and extended family, and always encouraged everyone to spend time together as a family unit. The Vigil for Alice will be held on Friday, August 25th, at 7:30 p.m and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 26th, at 10:00 a.m. Both services from St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church (1121 Northumberland Avenue). Condolences may be emailed through www.mourningglory.ca . Arrangements in care of John Schachtel MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (978-5200).

Dear Roger

I was so sorry to hear about Alice - We will miss her. She was so good natured and friendly. When I first knew her , she was a very young Mom. I marvelled at how she managed and cared for her young family.

I loved her. As years went by , Alice seemed more like a sister.

In February ,2006, Bishop Rick had popped in to say hi. Before he left , Alice gave him a large portion of xmas cake that she had made , to take home to me. What a generous thing to do. Yes we shall miss her!

Roger , Thanks for the lovely pen that you sent , at the same time.

I hope that your many memories will be a comfort to you in the future.

Love you .

Prayers are with you

Aunt Terry

Roger:

Through all the years we have met at our Demers family reunions I always admired how you and Alice 'fit' so well as a couple. You clearly loved each other in a deep enduring way; and that love will continue to endure---as deep and as true--until you meet again.

She was a woman of quiet grace and intelligence. A woman we were all proud to call 'Family'.

God bless you and your family.

Love, your cousin,

Charlotte Hunter

Jeannie and I and our family want to express our sincere condolences to you all. What fond memories I have of Alice and Roger and their always friendly house. Alice was the glue that held and maintained the strong family bonds. Her life and her dedication to caring for family and friends reflects in the wonderful family they raised and the many close friends they have. Alice truly did God's work on earth. She was loved by all.
