Alice Ryan Obituary

Alice P. Ryan Alice Parks Ryan, 88, of Speedwell died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. at the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Collins officiating. A graveside service will be held Sunday, Dec. 12, at 1 p.m. at the Speedwell United Methodist Church Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Macy Cox Parks; husband, Lawrence Martin Ryan; a son, Marvin Ryan; a sister, Georgia Stroupe; and two brothers, Garnett Parks and Stuart Parks. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Ruby Ratcliff of Crockett, Faye and Gene Hale of Speedwell, and Jewel and Ralph Spangler of West Virginia; a son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Gale (very special friend) Ryan of Speedwell; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 7 p.m. (service time) at the funeral home or anytime at the home of Ruby Ratcliff at 326 Spraker Road in Crockett. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.
