ALICE CUSHMAN SIROIS, 94 formerly of Libby Court, Jaffrey died Wednesday November 1, 2006 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough following a period of failing health.

She was born November 3, 1911 in Braintree, MA one of six children of the late Zachariah H. and Mary (Reynolds) Cushman.

Alice, a direct descendant of the Mayflower, grew up in Kingston, MA where she attended local schools, and played violin in the community orchestra. She had resided in Jaffrey from 1936 until moving to live with her daughter in Peterborough in 2003.

Alice was a communicant of St. Patrick Church in Jaffrey, and was a member of the former Sainte Anne’s Society of the parish. She retired in 1976 from the New Hampshire Ball Bearing Co. in Peterborough following more than twenty years of employment. After retirement, she spent several winters with her husband Walter enjoying the Florida sunshine.

She was an avid Red Sox fan and loved to travel, including several trips a year to the Plymouth/Kingston area where she still has family members. To celebrate her 90th birthday, she fulfilled a life-long dream of traveling to her mother’s homeland of Ireland. She enjoyed spending many hours at the Monadnock Adult Day Care Center in Peterborough, where she was loved by both staff and members. She loved life, laughter, family and friends and will be dearly missed.

On February 22, 1936 she married Walter G. Sirois, he died April 17, 1996.

She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth A. Davis of Peterborough and Pauline L. Coderre of Winchendon MA; a son Harry Sirois of Cambridge, MA; 9 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; a brother John Cushman of Kingston, MA; several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are warmly invited to calling hours on Monday, November 6, 2006 from 6:00-8:00PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202 South) Jaffrey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 11:00AM in St. Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey. Rev. Wilfred H. Deschamps, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Jaffrey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Monadnock Adult Day Care Center, 456 Old Street Road, Peterborough NH 03458.
